Early Access Review
A true labor of love, nominated it as such. Superb gameplay, heartfelt story and mood, great soundtrack. Reasonable duration runs in Story mode with multiple other game modes.

Story put short is, you are a fairy like creature who can't fly, despite this you want to spread love and understanding for all, every monster has something good and beautiful in them just like you, even if social norms say you have to be this or be able to do that or look like this or behave like that. You are stuck in an endless repeating nightmare like realm where it won't stop raining, the monsters forget who they are and the good they are capable of but with a bit of love from you they will remember even if only for a short time. To keep trying and spread love and joy even if the task is doomed to be repeated, your efforts forgotten, and never really truly succeed is a powerful message.

As for gameplay, the dynamic difficulty system is excellent, if you are feeling strong you can choose higher level bosses to fight and if you go overboard the game will at times offer to lower the level of the creatures for you. Sometimes they have more or better rewards, sometimes you just love fighting one boss over another. I have had moments where I felt like a gamer god with superb loadout and started challenging the most bullet hell horrors the game has to offer and sometimes I just want to have a semi relaxing semi challenging run. There is a LOT of variety in what you face, and the level of the creature you face can and will drastically change how they work or even the environment they exist in, not just amount or speed of projectiles.

Lots of metaprogression which I am fine with even if I know some might not be, you want to complete different objectives for the various bosses to unlock new stuff and farm some of the different colored Tetrids for more unlocking. For me it is just a bit of incentive and has not really bothered me. It all progresses reasonably.

The concept of just boss rushes is perfect for me as those are generally the most interesting parts of shmups, and even then the variety in this game also helps to prevent it from getting stale, lots of different vulnerabilities and strengths to watch out for. You got varying damage and resistance types, tons of powerups, helpers, weapon modifiers, Panic attack/bomb equivalents and so on. Such great amounts of content to build your runs with, or customize a specific one in the alternate game modes. I will always come back to this game to experience the joy of playing and seeing all the creatures I love again.

Love all the monsters, we are all beautiful in our own ways.

A surprisingly good space shooty arcade style game. There are a great deal of ships to unlock and choose from, each with different stats, primary weapons (though most tend to shoot straight forwards) and unique ship specific abilities, many of which are very fun to use and look at in action. You also get to choose a special weapon to use to complement your ships abilities or weaknesses or strengths. Again, there is a good amount to choose from.

Enemy variety is decent, bosses are OK, powerups are what you would expect. There is nothing revolutionary here.

The looks might be a bit decieving though, it feels very smooth to play and there are some surprisingly nice looking (and deadly) effects that can happen, usually when using a ships special ability.

There is only one outstanding bad thing and that is the translation. It is passable but bad enough to make certain item or weapon abilites unclear and trying to follow the story is gonna end with constant facepalms. It is a good thing a story is not what most care about in this kind of game, but it would have been nice to be able to follow it without feeling like you are reading a sci-fi story paper a 5 year old handed in to their teacher. Other than that everything else becomes clear as you use items and weapons.

If you want to shoot aliens with spaceships like the old days but still have some variety in the gameplay and looks, then this is definitely a game you want and something you can come back to every now and then for some shooty goodness.
That is what I wanted, and that is what I got.

It is like an older simpler version of Europa Universalis 4, but you have Knights instead of advisors to give you bonuses or carry out your will! I wish I had found and played this amazing game earlier.

Knights of Honor is like EU4 a fairly slow paced real time game (there are buttons for speeding the game up though) where diplomacy and interpeting and manipulating the worldwide opinions and events is very important. You can make Trade, Non aggression pacts, Alliances and Royal marriages. Peace and War are of course present and can be declared however you wish, but breaking Trade/Alliance/Royal marriage carries penalties.

Spies are present and can do all sorts of shenanigans if you are so inclined and they work in a rather unique way, or you can fill your royal court with Army carrying Marshals and forget spies, merchants or any other utility Class your knights could choose and just crush your enemies, stomp out rebellions until they calm down, and intimidate your enemies with your massive armies so they will be too afraid to try to stop your quickly expanding realm while plundering everything in sight so you don't run out of food and money.

A lot of the countries you can choose to play as has unique units that you can recruit anywhere the resources are present at and the locations of provinces determines what other local units might be around for recruitment, Vikings for example are available as special local units for hire in Scandinavian provinces.

Combat is handled either personally or by the AI, heading in yourself can be preferable if the armies are about equal in strength and you want to ensure victory by say sacrificing your cavalry to rush and kill the enemy marshal, ending the battle unless a reinforcing marshal is present for them. While fun, you can generally trust the AI to handle battles where you outnumber and/or outclass the enemy, except when terrain or castles or such are about to mess things up.

In addition to your knights you have your royal family that you should take good care of, marrying off your women to secure peace and making damn sure you have male heirs so succession is not a problem.

Finally there are multiple ways to win, so far I have only managed to get the Kingdom Advantages win, which is gathering all the trade goods and acquiring all Kingdom Advantages which are bonuses to various areas of your Kingdom obviously. There also Click Here to Claim victory buttons where you demand others to recognize your greatness and undisputed rule, and independant somewhat irregular meetings to determine a Supreme Ruler.

Gonna try to conquer Europe as the Golden Horde next with hordes of horse archers. And after that play as a muslim country and cover the world with Camels.

You type things dead. A simple fun game when you got nothing to do. And with options for serious typers

I want to love it, and it could be incredibly fun. New spell system tech tree of sorts is good and more everything basically. But serious game breaking bugs, and some minor annoying ones, still exist after having been out for quite a while. AI is pants on head retarded, making outrageous demands while at a serious military disadvantage, suiciding the few troops they have, then offering everything they have for peace, and then repeating the process just a few turns later. The game really shouldn't still be in this state. At this point i would just say play original Warlock with all the DLC, which is far more stable, smoother and enjoyable then get this after a few years when hopefully patches (official or fan made) has made it a truly great experience.

As it is i would only recommend it to people who are really into the franchise, or can enjoy flawed games that carry a good risk of killing your current saves at any moment for various reasons.
