If you're even remotely into RPGs, Expedition 33 is one of those games you absolutely shouldn't miss. I honestly wasn't expecting to be this blown away, but from the moment I started it, I knew I was experiencing something special.

First off — hats off to the devs at Sandfall Interactive. It’s crazy to think this came from a relatively small studio because the quality here easily rivals some of the biggest names in the industry. You can feel the passion and care in every frame, every line of dialogue, and every boss fight.

The story is incredible. Without spoiling too much, it revolves around a cursed world where people are literally painted out of existence once they reach a certain age. It sounds bizarre on paper, but in practice, it’s haunting, emotional, and constantly makes you question the nature of sacrifice, fate, and defiance. The characters are memorable and actually grow on you — by the end, I genuinely cared about each of them.

Now, the combat system is where the game truly shines. It takes classic turn-based mechanics and spices them up with real-time dodges, parries, and aiming. It's fast, it's strategic, and it keeps you on your toes without ever feeling unfair. I loved customizing my builds and learning enemy patterns — every big fight felt like a test of both reflexes and tactics.

Visually? Absolutely stunning. The art direction is this gorgeous mix of Belle Époque and dark fantasy, with surreal, painterly landscapes and beautifully designed monsters. It’s one of the few games where I actually stopped to admire the scenery mid-quest.

And can we talk about the price? At around 50 bucks, it’s an absolute steal for what you get here. The main story took me around 35 hours, and there’s a ton of optional content if you’re a completionist like me. Honestly, it’s one of the best value-for-money RPGs I’ve played in years.

Soundtrack’s another highlight — moody, orchestral, and perfectly fitting for the world it builds. The voice acting is top-notch too, making every conversation and cutscene a treat.

To sum it up: Expedition 33 is one of those rare gems that reminds you why you fell in love with RPGs in the first place. It’s bold, emotional, mechanically sharp, and drop-dead gorgeous. I can’t recommend it enough.
