insanely well designed, has decorative items too, it's suprisingly detailed with a solid gameplay loop, I've been replaying it just for the gameplay, I've even seen speedruns of this game

lots of fun, usually games like this have one critical flaw that holds it back but this just works

I think the most frustrating part of the game is that the art shows a giant robot shooting all the bad guys but once you play the game you realize 1. you don't have the ammo to do that so you have to step on everyone the whole time, and 2. you have to walk backwards onto people attacking you from behind.

after that the whole game becomes a rhythm game of trying to step on people at the right moment rather than a power fantasy of shooting natives. but the game obviously expects you to spend at least half the time just stomping around without shooting. if the trailer was just 10 minutes of stepping on natives I'd understand but I feel like I was sold a vision that doesn't quite exist. In a perfect world the guns would simply never run out of ammo, and the natives would never run behind you so you'd just play the game like the trailer suggests. running and gunning and having a fun time.

the game is simple yet fun, don't expect too much complexity but what is there works well. a big buggy at times but it still works more or less

the odd thing about this game is it feels like it should be a superior game to the first game, 10,000,000 but even with all the improvements it feels worse

The progression system is really well designed and I enjoy it but I feel like in the first game using an item killed or almost killed the enemy you used it on, Now all the spells feel so under powered that I don't even care if I get them, you can upgrade them but you need that money to upgrade your other gear but even then it feels like each enemy takes more and more time to kill, the first game felt fast with you constantly slaying and upgrading so quickly with lucky runs lasting for a dozen monsters, now I feel lucky to kill even 5, everything works better but I feel weaker than the main character in the last game, it's remarkably unsatisfying but I like everything about this game and even plan to continue playing it yet I still think the pacing of the first game flows better, with upgrades being a palpable feeling of power increasing instead of a single point of damage increasing, you gain power so slowly and the monsters do too so the difficulty holds still for the whole game neither getting harder or easier

I feel weird saying all this because intellectually I understand it's a better game but when playing it I get less dopamine from each combo because each combo impacts the enemy less and I see less enemies fall to my onslaught, making each run feel shorter, I feel like I move at most a dozen feet before I'm killed

as much as I fight with the controls I find that if I focus I can make them do what I want them to and that's alot better than most VR games, my biggest issue is I was under the impression you can really maul them to death but you can only remove about 10-20% of their bodies but the screams, I mean sound design and voice acting really work well to immerse me in the experience

also this is a platformer, there's no combat in this game, I got the wrong impression of it from the trailer

I was very skeptical at first but this game's attention to detail makes it feel Like it's a real piece of metal. not a unity model they just ported into the game but real metal that dents and breaks as you hit it, I don't know how they accomplish this but if it's a illusion covered up by the frantic gameplay it's very convincing

After 42 hours in the game I've not progressed at all because despite being a rougelike most of the progression in this game is heavily based on achievements that require hyper specific actions or progressing the main plot by not spending any money the whole game so you can afford a plot item to progress the story but I could never beat the game with enough money to spare for that

in fact if the starting weapon shoots bananas, fish, or boomerangs just restart until it drops a shotgun or rifle or something that actually shoots bullets because you'll spend most of the game dodge rolling around bosses while shooting fish at them for 1/50th the damage a shotgun could do

if you're like me and just want to play a video game then it's very limited in it's content as most of the items were locked behind achievements I didn't want to get or found difficult to get, either way I don't enjoy that progression system because no matter how many hours I spend actually playing the game, I don't get the new weapons or content

My only real issue with this game is the number of enemies, once the game decides to start sending 5+ enemies at you with ranged or AOE explosions on death it becomes virtually impossible to safely use the sword after maybe level 1, I think regular melee enemies represent maybe 30% of the bad guys in this game or I got some really unlucky spawns
