Will never get over hearing a teammate screams echo from afar as they fall to their doom because the pull up bugged out and dropped them

Got into a chase with a giant spider that kept following me before getting mangled by a swarm of smaller spiders and the previous giant spider

First off. Do NOT purchase this game. Despite its potential back in 2023 The dev's have completely abandoned this game and its currently bleeding its player count, I believe by the end of 2025 if the devs don't do anything to revive or otherwise bring the game to a stable state. It will have little to no activity if not have completely flatlined in terms of player count. And that's being hopeful this game is even savable in the first place.

Last update (At the time of this review which is being written on the 10th of april 2025) was back in march 2nd 2024, One whole entire year. With zero communication on when another one will be released.

The anti cheat is easily bypassed. As in you can literally turn it off in the task manager, The game does not attempt reboot the anticheat or otherwise force quit itself when this occurs and as such the game cannot detect cheaters and ban them, And by effect it is near impossible to find a single game with without atleast one cheater.

Despite selling several copies and making a large amount of funds. The dev's (3 of them) have not seeked out to hire more developers and only community managers and etc. This has caused a "update" (Apparently nothing or barely anything on this update has been spoken about or shown) to be delayed for the entirety of 2024 and for the foreseeable future into 2025.

One of the main appeals of this game was the voice chat and how loose the restrictions were. Which in turn allowed a large amount of comedic moments and generally allowed people to express themselves with out the fear of being permanently banned allowing for more fun and better connections between players during matches, Things like rivalries and friendships and players just having a good laugh. However the devs at some point updated the TOS which put the voice chat into a choke hold with how many restrictions were added to it with barely any notice to it, Which unsurprisingly lead to a huge mass ban of people just being loud and yelling and having fun just to be suddenly permanently banned from the game and thus have caused players to not even use the voice chat or even text chat for that matter for fear of getting banned.

And well. What have we seen the dev's do in this time that could've been spent updating the game even if just small updates? Well for the most part they've struck down alot of videos viewing them in a negative light. Hiring more community members instead of anybody for the dev team. And well, If you were to asked for anything about any new content or updates you'd either get ignored, Muted / Banned from the discord. Or the dev's or community managers will lead you to the development changes which apparently are severely outdated or just outright contain nothing about the update.

So just spare yourself the time buying, Installing and lauching this game just to have to refund it not long after. And go play or purchase another game you might enjoy, Cause I don't think you'll enjoy this one

Contractors is like this game but not dead. A living modding community thats not actively being tortured by its devs. And has dev's that actually care for the game instead of using it for money.
So go play contractors instead

The HD2 community through sheer will power have managed to make SONY backtrack and cancel the PSN link requirement update. I feel as we are all obligated to revert our reviews back to positive to tell SONY that what they did was correct and not to do it again. Now for a normal review below

HD2 is a 4 player Co-Op game where even the drop pods are guns and you have to do your mission in the allocated time. Reinforcements, And all while being gunned down, Doused in acid, Crushed, Slammed into, Set on fire, Drowning, Obliterated, And sometimes being killed by a fellow helldiver (FF is enabled in this game)
Pre-mission. While you or the host is picking the operation there's 3 main factions to fight and 10 difficulties.
The automatons, Robot overlords who are brutal as they are tough. And boy are they tough, From hulks to tanks to giant striders and gun ships they're gonna give you a rough time if you're under prepared. Then there's the terminids, They'll swarm you if you aren't careful and with their different types they'll either melt you with acid or crush your bones by smashing into you. And now recently the Illuminate. Alien rulers who seek nothing but to brain wash and mutate super earths people for their own personal gain and will have no issue with gunning you down. Swarming you or splitting you in half with their lasers and will even happily destroy planets to get what they want.
While waiting on the host to pick a operation you ought to plan out your loadout. Will you be a heavy tank utilizing shotguns MG's and heavy ordinance? or a lightweight sniper utilizing their jetpack, SMG's and anti material rifle or railgun to provide support from afar. Either way be sure to pick the right stratagems and equipment for the job. Oh right the stratagems.
Stratagems: Think kill streaks from COD. You get 4 of them. Instead of getting kills you gotta wait out the cooldown and watch if it has limited uses and they're usually 100x more devastating. You have things like strafing runs and airstrikes. To 500kg bombs and railcannon shots from your super destroyer and your support backpack and weapon of choice. Just make sure you aren't calling a offense stratagem in on a fellow helldiver
In mission: After everyones ready and the missions selected its time to select the drop point. Your stratagems and a booster. then its just complete that mission against all odd's. And don't worry about dying after you complete the objective. When the game says mission complete extraction is completely optional (Though if you want the samples and extra XP you're gonna have to. And get ready to fight tooth and nail to get the hell out of there alive on the higher difficulties)

This game made me into a 4 star voice actor when a flea latched onto my head 10/10

Is this what its like to be in a human sized ant farm with equally sized ants

This game was one of the few things that made my childhood
On the surface it may look poor, and that's what i believe gives it character
Its very comparable to MC, but the main differences is the fact you have guns, aliens, ♥♥♥♥ ass dragons and a crap ton of explosives, and also the main player and other models
Originally made for the 360 arcade i'd say it made its way to steam fairly well
