Dreamfall Chapters: The Final Cut Edition promised a captivating story, but instead delivered a tedious slog. I dove in, eager to explore a world brimming with narrative depth, only to be met with an utter lack of inspiration.

The gameplay is an insult to anyone with intelligence. The dream sequence at the beginning was promising. It hinted at a world of mystery and intrigue. But then, the make character wakes up and greets us with a year of mind-numbing mediocrity, a dead-end job, a bland boyfriend that she annoyingly cannot shut up about – everything I despise in real life shoved into a purposeless title masked as a supposed adventure game.

Six hours. That's all I could stomach. Six wasted hours spent babysitting this character through the most mundane routines imaginable. The developers couldn't even muster the effort to make her life interesting, let alone make me care about her.

The sound design was decent, the voice acting tolerable. But that's a small consolation prize when the rest of the experience feels like utter punishment. Exploring this world wasn't exploration – it was a navigation nightmare. Drab environments stretched endlessly, each one devoid of life or inspiration.

You are given excruciating tasks, forcing you to haggle over the price of virtual lunch for a pixelated boyfriend - a mind-numbing chore that clearly showed the game's utter lack of focus. Was this supposed to be some weird exercise in empathy? Because it screamed out "We ran out of ideas, here's some busywork!"

Dreamfall Chapters feels like a cynical cash grab. The developers took a promising concept and buried it under a mountain of tedium. If you're looking for a story-driven RPG that respects your time and intelligence, steer clear of this absolute dud.
