This is a great game. Sometimes it's buggier, sometimes not so much. Huge content: great fun. There is a small, loud, toxic minority that review bomb from time to time because "this gun weak" or "enemy too strong" or "physics bug". One round of bombs early on was "game too hard!" It's a great game. Arrowhead are constantly adding massive amounts of content and polishing and balancing as best they can to keep up with that inflow. There has never been a time when I did not enjoy playing this game, even during one of the many review bomb campaigns when the game was supposedly "unplayable".

*This game hits notes of many of my most played games and hits them in a heavenly chorus.

A game with build and management elements plucking at notes of games like Reassembly, FTL, Gimbal, and Rimworld all strung together into a satisfying chord.

A conquest campaign game mode (that has a multiplayer available to boot), reminiscent of Mount and Blade and Rimworld's thumping bass-line, accented with a hero system (DLC) that rings of Stellaris.

A simple, yet solid and satisfying melody of 2-Dimensional art that beats to the heart of the punk-pixel art style of a small independent game development.

All of these elements come together to make a song of simple but intoxicating melody that is both easy to play along with, but also open to expression of your own realized solo, whether you want play stylized or just for cheese.

In short: Charming AF.

*My game hours aren't accurate. I play offline a lot and those hours aren't logged properly. At this time, I'd guess my hours played are closer to 40 rather than 4.

I love Subnautica. But this... this feels like a step back. Instead of a Cyclops, I get a loooong modular seamoth with a few ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bins and 2 modules that are just dumb to even bother with as they just slow you down, make it even more ungainly and serve next to no real use. Instead of a large 3-dimensional map, I get a tiny map (probably why we get no Cyclops, wouldn't fit in this toy-box) that only goes to about half the depth and has a good 3rd of it dedicated to exploring nearly 2-dimensional arctic tundra on the worlds crappiest snowmobile. The icing on the cake, after over 2 years since release there are repeatable glitches that can get you stuck (literally just jumping up to your ♥♥♥♥-truck in the moonbay) or push you through the floor (finishing a building while close to the it and the floor pushes you through the floor when its complete) that can ruin hours of play or disable achievements when you have to use console commands to NOT lose hours of play.

I would rather that they have spent their time to make the OG title have better VR support, because the job they did on that is also pretty crap even though they had the cojones to release its half-assedness on VR consoles for full price with complete lack of updates, support, motion control and ♥♥♥♥-buggy play.

The narrative is alright, and adds a bit of character, but lacks the mystery and feeling of expanse of the first game for me.

If you REALLY need new Subnautica, this is kind of it, but for me, it just increased the longing for a real sequel. I kept giving it a chance hoping that it would grow on me, but honestly I'm about 80% through and its just been feeling like I've been trying to push through to the end to just finish it already rather than enjoying the experience of playing it.

Essentially, a fun, fast-paced FPS and good bang for the buck. The gameplay is solid and is exactly as chaotic as it is supposed to be. Most negative reviews I've read have mentioned that they "think they should be able fly higher above the battlefield". Two points on this: This is literally against the games intended design, it is analogous to saying, "I like COD, but sure wish I could walk through walls and didn't have to use doors and windows to move around the map." Such a change would literally break the core of the game. Point 2: Lore-wise, in WH40k, everything in the air is subject to fleets in orbit and so must fly low to not get space lasered as an easy target. It is the main way they justify nearly everything that doesn't make sense in the WH40K IP. (They need an excuse to hit each other with swords, mostly.)

TL:DR - Most neg reviews are ASKING FOR A DIFFERENT TYPE OF GAME ENTIRELY

Early Access Review
So, there was this very fun game called Space Marine, which had a shody, though still fun, multipleyer. This game died to soon. This game is SPACE MARINE EXTREME, with more of everything and a multiplayer focus. Many folks are bitter that the game isn't launching as was origanally planned (like a planet side 2 clone) all those years ago, but from my perspective, having bought the game almost a year ago now, this game is a very fun experience. I have no regretts on buying into the alpha and I'm sorry to see that many people are sour it isn't the game they were promissed years ago. I recommend this game to any of my friends who like shooters and hope to play with you soon as well.

Though shorter than I'd like, its worth the 20 bucks, especially if you have friends that already have it or a few controllers.
