Dwarf Fortress retains the absurd complexity and steep learning curve that the game has become (in?)famous for in the last 25 years; if that was a deal breaker for you before, it will still be now. However, this new release makes the game user-friendly enough to, unlike in the past, be enjoyed by an otherwise sane gaming populace. Given the herculean effort put into designing this game by Zach and Tarn Adams, I cannot recommend giving this game a try highly enough, especially with the new tutorials.
