It's pretty insane how I'm 42 hours into this game and have still only scratched the surface with the total amount of story content it has to offer. I'm still nowhere near knowing what the hell is going on, and somehow, despite already having sunken in 40 hours, I'm still engaged to the max. Ab absolute masterclass by Zero Escape's Uchikoshi and Danganronpa's Kodaka, and I say this as someone who has been more than a little critical on their more recent works (Rain Code and Nirvana Initiative I either disliked heavily or thought were extremely mixed overall).

I think one aspect that really took me by surprise is how much this game *isn't* Danganronpa outside its initial premise, because visually it just looks like Danganronpa 4 (and it's what people have been calling it since its announcemeet), but the game does a lot to elevate and build upon the DR formula, and subvert it, too. Like, the central gameplay of this game is just something else entirely (Strategic turn based combat instead of class trials). Explaining how and why some DR structure aspects are subverted would be going into spoilers but as someone who was worried this would just be another Danganronpa because Kodaka can't help but just make another Danganronpa, I'm very positively surprised to say that that isn't the case.

For its length - and price!!! - Anamnesia offers something quite indescribable. I can't comment on the story at length given its unfinished nature but what this 3-4 hour part 1 already offers is nothing short of incredible.
