Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known

I love you Baldur's Gate.

Early Access Review
I like it half the time, I hate it the other half.

First and last time buying a game at the beginning of early access. Most times when something doesn't work, I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or if the game is broken.

This is my first horror experience and I loved it! I had goosebumps and anxiety at every step.

But. And that's a big but; this game is too repetitive. Walk through the police station, collect three medallions. Proceed to the next area and collect two electric parts to get a keycard. Proceed to the next area. Collect chess pieces to unlock a door mechanism and proceed to the next area...

The only reason I've finished this game is the characters. If it wasn't for Leon, Ada and Claire, I doubt I would've finished.

I have hopes that Resident Evil 3 and 4 will be more enjoyable since they're not closed within a single building (although I did love exploring the detailed police station) where you're forced to keep unlocking more doors.

If there ever was a game that suffered from too many new additions at once, I'd think of WorldBox.

The 0.50 update is too overwhelming with useless additions...

Age of History II is a very simplified version of Paradox games such as Hearts of Iron IV.

It's really fun for the first 5 hours, but then it becomes repetitive because it's almost impossible to lose—even on the hardest difficulty. The AI complexity doesn't change at all, you just have a harder time making money so you're an easier target. But being attacked can be avoided by just spamming "Improve Relations."

That's it, that's the entire game. It's just spamming buttons and colouring your map. The only reason why I currently have 50+ hours played is because of the formable nations (Italy ---> Rome), but even that gets old really fast considering how few of those formable nations there are. Some of the greatest and most infamous kingdoms and empires are even missing.

Not to mention this game hasn't seen a proper update since 2020, so there's plenty of annoying bugs such as your camera randomly jumping to the corner of the map, or the names of nations getting jumbled.

This game also loves to throw random declarations of war on you, even though the nations are worlds apart. Sometimes I can't even tell where the invading country is, because the game doesn't mark it. That way, all you can do when a speck of a nation attacks you, is watch in bafflement.

At the end of the day, Age of History II is a good game if you're scared by Paradox's complexity, but the cons outweigh the pros, and you will get bored really quick.

Edit to answer OYOLORWT:

Well, a hundred people have a hundred differing opinions. If you enjoy the game, good! But it feels like I discovered the entire game in just 10 hours, the rest is me goofing around.

With such a small (actually non-existent) complexity, what is there to do? I genuinely wonder what you did in the game for 300 hours.

If you play through the tutorial for some 15 minutes, you've already mastered the game because there's nothing else to do here. Just MS Paint this map.

I understand that this game is made by just a single person, but compare it to HoI 4, for example. I've actually seen some people say that HoI 4 sucks compared to this, which is factually wrong. HoI 4 has bigger complexity. You actually have some objectives to strive towards to. You have regular soldiers, tanks, planes, ships...

In Age of History II, if you have 1000 soldiers and your opponent has 500, you win 99% of the time because this game only subtracts these two numbers. It doesn't take into consideration that a single soldier can kill 10 units or die with zero kills. That's how "complex" this game is.

I may sound like a brat, but unlike some of you, I have some standards when it comes to realism, tactics and overall entertainment.

Had to put it here because Steam only allows comments under 1000 characters.
