As of 9/7/2025, I can no longer recommend this game in its current state. The issues and content, or lack of, paired with virtually no communication or real updates from the devs have had my shelve this game.

Let me start off with saying that this game does not deserve the hate it's getting. It is definitely Killing Floor, but with an updated and new approach.

The core gameplay of a horde shooter is still there. It retains the same wave after wave of zeds that the last installment had, but with the bonus of story-like missions you can choose to follow. Keyword there; choose. It is entirely optional but gives the player something to do.

While the audio is something to be desired compared to KF2, it's not terrible. Visually I see very little difference aside from the color tone. KF2 had a more dark and gritty atmosphere, while KF3 seems to have more vibrant coloring to the scene.

One of the biggest, and more welcome changes, is weapon customization. Every gun can be modified from the ammo type to the weapon sights. Each one offering a change in how the gun acts and its effectiveness versus different zeds.

I know one major complaint I have seen from people is the specialist system. Mainly due to the classes/perks being locked behind each character and not allowing the same visual freedom KF2 had. Example being Foster is the Commando, etc.

There are a few issues with optimization which required me to look around to find ini tweaks and edits to get the game to a playable spot. While I don't have the best rig on the market, the random moments of hard stutters and FPS drops were more demanding than they should have been.

I fully expect this game, like pretty much all Tripewire titles, will slowly be polished up over time with content and optimization tweaks.

At a price tag of $40 and what this game has had to offer me, I can recommend this game. Even though it has been marked as a full release, I feel it should have followed KF2's route as an early access title. The core gameplay and most of the enjoyable aspects are indeed there. But, the game still needs that usual T&C Tripwire is known for.

Early Access Review
Surprise post an update no one asked for.
Ask for feedback regarding the update.
The feedback is overwhelmingly negative with people asking it not to be added.
Respond back with "lol, we don't care" and force the update anyway.
Watch as your monthly income suddenly plummets along with your playerbase and ratings.

First time I've ever posted a review despite owning this account for all this time. It's that bad of a change that it warrants it.

Edit (11/12/2022): Surprisingly, they actually did realize how much of a toll this took on their community approval. They actually came back with an acknowledgement of this and proceeded to add multiple QoL updates that gave the "must-have" features that were stripped away after the EAC update. Since then the game is back to how it was prior to that update as far as I'm concerned.
