As a sequel to one of the greatest immersive sims of all time, this game is an abstract failure

But let's pretend it's not. Imagine this game's title is Vampire: the Masquerade: Phyre.

It's a melee brawler set in the VtM universe. The combat is fun and fluid, the story (while lacking in player choice) is engaging. The characters are well written and nuanced. It does a lot of things right.

It's just not a very good sequel.
