You really don't get it, do you? You think a sticky launcher would work that way, in the 50's, or a minigun, that fires 4 bullets per bullet? Or a rocket launcher that holds 4 rockets? Of course it won't work in real life! It is not about realism, it's about the theme. It is supposed to be styled like the 50's, not some futuristic game! Yes the particle smashers look futuristic, but they have a 50's-style futuristic look.

I am not a fan of the Invisible Particle Smashers, or what the hell they are called, but they were based on designs form the 50's. Learn your facts, read the wiki.
