Fantastic story, beautiful art, and the best tutorial I've ever played. Great game!

TL;DR First paragraph!

I highly recommend this game to anyone who is tired of the standard unrealistic run n gun fps. Sandstorm is not a milsim, but it isn't ridiculous like COD and Battlefield. You will die to one well placed shot, guns handle poorly without proper support, and there is no magic healing. The game's learning curve is not steep, but you may find yourself frustrated in the beginning if you try to play like COD. This game is slow, about playing the objective, and teamwork. This is exactly why I love this game.

The great things about it are: the huge maps, great gun play, accurate handling and damage of weapons, great environment mechanics (vaulting, kicking down doors, peaking doors, realistic bullet penetration), the sounds are fantastic, there are a bunch of tiny details that I appreciate the hell out of (unique voice-lines while being suppressed, coughing w/o gas mask in smoke, deafening near repeated large caliber fire, back-blast from RPG causes damage), and fire support really makes for interesting tactics and strategies. The CO-OP is also a ton of fun.

Now for what I dislike. The small stuff that is more subjective to me includes much needed buffs to heavy explosives (IED, C4, drones, etc.) and flash-bangs. At the current state, random furniture will block huge explosions or a flash-bang, making some of the most expensive items quite useless at their sole job. There's also a serious problem with smoke being different for everyone, so some people can see through it while others have blocked vision from it.

Honestly, it is a fantastic game. My few gripes have led to some frustrating deaths that are easily overlooked by how much fun I have had. I recommend Frontline and Push as the game types to get into and stay into. Firefight and competitive are very different and they don't have many players active in them leading to long queue times.

I love this game. With that said I recommend it to NO ONE! The game has a famous unresolved bug where it crashes on VICTORY. That's right, when you win in multiplayer there is a 60/40 chance that your game crashes and you lose any progress you made that run. Including progress toward new races, hats, or companions.

Early Access Review
Love this game. I would 100% recommend, the bugs are minor and expected. It's an Alpha. Only thing I don't like is that I've had server connection issues since the beginning. Entities out of order, invalid packet, etc... Makes things VERY FRUSTRATING.
