This game looks pretty interesting and can be played with up to 3 friends. It's difficult though, I was having issues getting the bronze cup on the easy difficulty of the first level.

It's pretty cool how you can create factions of various races and then control them in a bid for control of the world. You got a lot of themes for your faction, from industrial to natural to undeath, along with a series of tomes to acquire to go further in being a master of artifice, agent of nature, or undead nightmare. There's a paid DLC that lets you create dragons as the leader of your faction.

A minor annoyance is a glitch that causes multiplayer games to repeatedly show an "Out of sync!" error every few turns, and force you to wait on a black screen, though this does not cause loss of progress.

The action game is about trying to navigate the wilderness to extract pins to get a better standing in your organization and get better tools. You have a lasso that lets you ride beasts after running around them in circles enough and then use their powers, though they will get tired and knock you off if you ride them too long so you'll need to find a replacement every so often, or when you want a different set of abilities. You shoot enemies using a gun that gets its ammo from berries picked up in the world, though you can use a default ammo type that doesn't use up the limited ammo acquired from the berries. You start from a patch attached to the center base and when you lose all your health you have to retreat to the base and start from the attached patch again. I'm not sure why this is considered "roguelike" because it doesn't feel much like that kind of game to me. Though, the patches somewhat reset and regenerate when returning to the base, so you have to fight the waves of enemies in joint patches I think every time. The patches are fixed in map layout.

It's nice to see your base expand and improve as you acquire pins for the base, and successfully mount beasts and send them to the base where they will appear in a separate segment. If you place the proper pins for that species they will have more stamina when you summon them to either ride as a mount or have as an assistant in battle. Later on you unlock shortcuts from clearing the dungeons and disabling blocks in the world, and find a second underground world that connects to the main one. Also you can get power ups acquired by defeating dungeons, find gaps in patches which can be filled with pins to grant an effect in the surrounding area and when you reach that patch again, and find shiny pins that give a better effect in your base. Also there's a skunk beast in the game. I like skunks.

Overall it runs well on original Steam Deck, it drains the battery only in about four hours, and the flat art style is nice enough to look at. It's good if you like games where you can have monsters battle for you.

The best thing about this game is the ability to make your own adventures in the game using the Aurora Toolset. You can spend countless hours in this tool alone. This is like the LittleBigPlanet of Dungeons & Dragons games. If you like that feature in games you should consider game Neverwinter Nights. You should also consider getting this game if you're interested in some community made content, I hear modules such as the Swordflight series are pretty good. I don't care that much about the game's default campaign though.

Community addons exist such as CEP and PRC that extend the game's asset count and playable character options significantly. Also, there's a new update that internally allows for up to eight classes to be added to a character instead of just three but since it came so late in the game's life a lot of modules and addons are hardcoded to expect up to three classes per character.

The game has a bugged UI and gameplay mode. The UI incorrectly renders a white box in the top left corner of the screen. The gameplay renders blacked out making it unplayable. You need to work around this by changing a compatibility setting in the EXE file for the game. This bug is the reason why Steam says Worms World Party Remastered is unsupported on Steam Deck, it's the fault of the game developer, not Valve or anybody who worked on the Linux compatibility layer. Technically it is working accurately on Linux, but the "accurate" behavior is an unplayable by default game. It's also why nobody plays this game online - they flock to Worms Armageddon instead. Team17 should have fixed this bug already, instead of leaving the player to work around it.

Also, a collection of the features found in Worms Armageddon aren't found in Worms World Party Remastered, such as replays. If I was to make the remaster I would have the team propagate the upgrades introduced in Worms Armageddon updates to Worms World Party Remastered.

Overall, there's no sense in recommending a game that's uploaded in an unplayable state and you need to use workarounds to fix it. You should get Worms Armageddon instead - there's still at least 25 people playing it online daily. Only get this if you're specifically looking for the missions in Worms World Party.

Edit on August 29, 2024: Somehow the game is more unplayable in 2024. Now even with the Windows workaround for the graphics bug, the game's framerate drops massively when firing weapons, which is insane for a 2D game whose engine was first finished in 1997 during Worms 2's development (which is why Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party's executable files are both named "W2.exe" instead of their game names). Worms Armageddon, of course, does not experience frame rate issues on my PC or Steam Deck.

In addition, I found a bug which caused the game's main menu to break and reveal its Windows Forms base (another artifact of Worms 2, which used Windows Forms instead of an in-game menu for the main menu). The game became unplayable at this point and it needed to be restated for the menu to work again.
