Predatory microtransactions leave a bad taste in my mouth, like I've just drunk black coffee.

If only there was something out there that could take the bitterness away from my coffee AND let me avoid giving up a single cent for copy-pasted cosmetics that used to be free....

6/10. Disappointing sequel, good enough game on it's own. Wait for a sale or for certain issues to be patched. Not bad enough to warrant a thumbs down, but man I'm sad.

I'll just be talking about the issues of the game, there are pros that make it good enough to buy such as the improved level design (especially the second map), and improved gameplay elements and fun movement options, etc

Combat is overall improved in the amount you can do (parkour combat, etc) but *feels* worse than DL1, due to poor physics, animations and SFX. Enemies no longer react realistically to getting hit like they did in the first game. Physics are toned down, likely to be fixed in the future but for now, enemies also no longer react to being thrown around and into objects/walls.

Freerunning has been upgraded in many areas but immensely downgraded in overall feel. Jumping is floaty and less responsive than the first game, there is less overall impact as you move through environments, you feel as if you're less moving around objects and more gliding *through* them. The extra movement options/obstacles are a good addition however and there is more expression in how you choose to get around.

Night time is a joke now. Flashlight is no longer needed as you can see everything, and the risk has been all but removed completely due to the new chase levels. The only risk is found at max chase level, but the amount you have to *actively* stall to get to that point means you never see it. Should just be max level as soon as you are spotted.

IDK what they did to the weapon system in this game but it is garbage. You cant craft, you cant scavenge from enemies, you cant repair without applying buffs. What? Why? Why are there so many missing mods and weapon types? Where did my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cricket bat go?

I don't know or care about the improvements to the story compared to DL1, both kinda suck and are a means to an end. Characters in this game are throughly unlikable though, and depending on how you progress they can be trying to kill you one second and the next you're best buds. Might be subject to change once you know the story beats to go along to but noone will on their first playthrough so their first impression is ruined.

TLDR:

* Fix physics for both combat and movement.

* More weapon types/mods.

* Make night time actually night time and not daytime with a red light filter and ***increased difficulty***.

* Why the ♥♥♥♥ is Crane/Adrian voiced by the same dude? Now every time I hear him speak all I hear is Crane.
