What a ride. Vampire Survivors meets Diablo and it's a whole lot'a fun. Survive waves of enemies, get gold to level up your base skills and god abilities, dodge those obnoxious projectile enemies, throw on some modifiers for added difficulty, all while rockin' out to an awesome Viking soundtrack. Extremely addicting if that type of game is your style, but I presume even those who don't wish to min/max will enjoy too.

(Since this is early access, I will most likely change parts of this review later as more gets updated.)

Currently there are 4 classes: Berserker (Melee w/ dual axes), Seeress (Ranged w/ magic birb), Revenant (Archer w/ cool ghost dog), and Flame Sister (haven't played yet).

These classes all have 3 different weapons to choose from with their own unique active effects. Your damage comes from your 2 Class Abilities and your 3 God Skill Abilities (they're called "abilities" but really they are more like "weapons"). There are 4 gods to pick from now, each with their own unique abilities and modifiers. Once your 5 Abilities ("weapons") are filled out, the Gods continue to give you EVEN MORE power via further abilities (think of the Boons from Hades). This can lead to some insane, game-breaking builds!

(BUG: The audio gets choppy/cuts in and out on insane difficulty when the screen is FLOODED with 300 tri-poison arrow archers!)

On to the classes now. Here are my thoughts after playing on the game's hardest difficulty, Insane. (Note, at level 11 you can pick a "sub class" which I will not go in to since this review is long enough, but know that it slightly to moderately affects your playstyle throughout the run.)

- Berserker can regen health and his class weapons offer good damage and even slight CC. Adequate damage and survivability means he's a decent first pick. Does well with both Class and God "Weapons" alike which allows for a versatile build. A well-balanced boyo. At level 11, you can spec in to more weapon damage, lowering God ability cooldowns, or increase passive regen -- 3 vastly different picks to choose from depending on what build you'd like.

- Seeress trades in the Berserker's survivability in exchange for ranged attacks and more CC. While she does have access to movement speed increases and LOADS of CC, her innate class abilities offer minimal damage. I've tried loads of different weapons and abilities, but she requires a near perfect God build to be even a remotely viable. I love her aesthetic and playstyle but she's too weak at this point in the game. What's the point of freezing, rooting, slowing your enemies when you can't KILL them? Her level 11 subclass choices have little to no impact on her runs, unlike the Berserker and Revenant. Buff my beautiful girl, please!

- Revenant is straight BUSTED. This speedy boi runs fast, attacks fast, and I presume he f***s fast too. He's got the damage. He's got the CC. He's got the heals. If these classes ever got names, I hope Revenant gets named the Nordic equivalent of "Chad." He's just too good. I saw another reviewer state that he's the only viable pick, and while Berserker can stand on his own, legend says Revenant once beat the Berserker in a "Better Beard Competition" (and he doesn't even have a beard!) At level 11, choose between dashing heals + 30% chance to revive on death, increased wolf damage/lower wolf cooldown, or 50% increase attack speed. I'd like to see something other than a "mediocre heal/chance to return from death" for the Revenant's subclass, as that sounds more like a basic ability effect rather than gameplay altering change of pace.

- Flame Sister: Have yet to play, but she sounds hot. (*Ba dum tish!*) If I ever do play her, I will update. Right now, the Revenant is just too damn fun (and I want to work more on Seeress and see if there's something I'm missing).

All in all, 7.5/10 game. Fun gameplay, plenty of mix 'n' match opportunities with gods and weapons, and knowing there are more gods, levels, and weapons to come just has me all the more excited. I'd like to see some God synergies like Hades, or at least something to that degree. Needing to be level 20 to evolve your weapons has also GOT to go, as that is an annoying hindrance -- make the requirement something else, anything else really, as it makes Insane difficulty runs artificially difficult. The basework is there to build upon an already strong foundation and I have high hopes for this game.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Jotunns to slay.
