Early Access Review
It is now 2025, and I am tentatively changing the review to a recommendation.

I have heard that PvP has several balancing issues, but I have moved away from PvP. So far, the PvE experience is significantly better than what was available in Survival Evolved.

I’m not particularly excited about new paid dlc or paid mods; Fortunately you can avoid both of these at this time and still have a solid updated Survival Evolved experience.

The building updates really shine and honestly make playing Survival Evolved feel like a chore in comparison.

The new custom cosmetics and improved mod installation experience are honestly a treat.

Overall the amount of content available is rapidly approaching Survival Evolved, and the new content seems interesting.

If your PC can run the game (please let us turn off TAA without needing to run a console command), it’s a superior PvE experience in almost every way.

Original review is below.

If you enjoyed how broken survival evolved was in 2015, you may enjoy this updated version of Ark.

If you prefer a game that works, you should play Survival Evolved until Wildcard are able to iron out the plethora of issues.

Overall, the game has potential; it’s built on the updated bones of Survival Evolved and can definitely shine. It just doesn’t shine yet.

A very fun and simple game about cars that play soccer. Controls are tight, and bugs are few. If you're looking for some 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 fun (with, or without friends), this game is priced almost perfectly.

On my older computer the game runs fine on the lowest settings, and the replay feature is kind of cool. There are a few issues I have with the game, but most can be fixed with a little tweaking. The crossplatform feature is nifty, except the only indication that someone is on a PS4 is when they have a name like "dank kush master 265662." The only two issues that can't be resolved with file editing is that no one actually seems to communicate on Multiplayer, so play this game with friends for the best experience, and the lack of Avatars ingame. I've only seen my friend's Avatars, but I do not know if this intentional.

I have not tested the ingame voice chat, so I have nothing to review about it.

Pros:
Fun multiplayer car based soccer
Very easy to use Replay viewer
Crossplatform (PS4)
Runs very well (Unreal Engine 4)
Game is cheap

Cons:
Game is capped to 60 FPS unless you tweak a configuration file
Your level / unlocks are stored locally in a file (So make sure you back it up!)
No one communicates on Multiplayer
Lack of visible Avatars (feature(?))
