GOATED HYPERGAME

Starfield the Generic Journey of a Person that instantly becomes important to the Universe

Tldr: between a 5 and a 6 out of 10
Outdated, Mediocre, Soulless and VERY Generic, but good to skip time if you have nothing else to play. And maybe a point where even the most Diehard fans should ask themselves if we should always accept how bethesda games are gettin Released. We should mayhaps begin to be a bit more critical.


Well where to start, Planets are randomly generated small Boxes, with Boundaries, which would not be a bad Thing, if the Exploration would be at least a bit Interesting but after you saw a few Planets, you kinda saw them all.

Many many assets will become familiar to you very fast. It also gets VERY boring to even reach points of Interest. You have to run 1 kilometer to maybe find a building or some shrooms you have not seen yet. (with the stamina of a half dead cat on sleeping pills)

You also have no ingame Map in Towns, just a very ugly Planetary map.
The Stealth system is almost exactly like in fallout/skyrim, the new Lockpicking can get tedious.


Positive mentions - Your Background and Traits actually can change up quite some things, (choose those ingame Parents!) Some of the Companions are Interesting and have many different things to say depending on the situation.
Gunplay, is FUN. Roleplaying if you have the imagination can be fun aswell. There is greatness between the usuall Bethesda jank and i don't know where it all went wrong but maybe in 2-3 years this might be a great game.
Some Factions/Side missions are Interesting. Yes you CAN have fun in this game depending on how critically you look at it. Building is better than in Fallout 4

Bugs - I had a few, and i had to reload an older save once or twice. but yes it has the least Bugs ever (in Bethesda standards)


Gameplay - The Gunplay is very fun, there are many guns to choose from, its probably the strongest point of the game, aside from shipbuilding which is close to awesome. There are the typical Unlimited Fetch or Kill that pirate quests
if you like those. The Spaceship is for Combat only, Traversal is done by fast traveling only.



Graphics - not really my Main concern in Games but sometimes some of the faces are quite hideous, ugly monsterfaces from hell. Look at those Citizens if you want to have Nightmares. some interiors are very pretty and atmospheric.
The biggest problem for me is, it is extremely generic, colorless feel. the game does not really try anything new or dares to venture to the unknown. you can (as always) see the engine's age and limitations.


Sound - It does what it needs to do, no strong feelings on that one.


Story - As always... its not great. (i think they have the same main Writer Guy Boy dude as in Skyrim) so the Quality is between Boring and Good'ish, a bit better than the Skyrim main Quest line in my opinion.
And just like in Skyrim, the Faction questlines/some sidequests are WAAAAY more entertaining than the Main quest or the Exploration of dead Planets.


My best man Todd overhyped it again, like with fallout 76 (anyone remember that one?)

Final Words to you Humans - Remember this is not a small Company. For the first new IP since 25 Years for Bethesda this really shows their shortcomings.

If they would have made a Smaller universe with like 12 Planets instead of a 1000'ish and filled that with fun stuff to explore, uniqueness and story bits to enjoy, would have been way more healthy for the game i think.

I can imagine if this is your fist Bethesda game (Oblivion was mine) you will enjoy it quite much, or if you have close to no standards or requirements for a bethesda game (which seems to be a bit common).
I Reccommend you wait for a sale or get it in the game pass. The Mentality of "Modders will make it good" is not a good Excuse for me.

nawt really recommended until the devs fix the game.. well there are bugs that exist since the game was first released but lets be positive :'(
