Go into it as blind as possible. Save scum - the game doesn't hesitate to kick you in the teeth even once you get your footing. Honestly the game isn't nearly as jank or outdated as some reviews will claim it to be. Treat it like an older game (review your controls from the menu asap and don't expect a world class tutorial) and you're good to go.

You will come to view the devs as your friends that are also scumbags (but still your friends (but still scumbags))

I enjoyed this game a lot more than I thought I would. The stock images seemed a bit generic and asset-y flip, but behind the cover and a slow first 10-15 minutes, there's a LOT of great ideas and good writing here.

If I had one major criticism, I think the finale is a bit over-explained and over-the-top for what was otherwise a really intriguing and generally mysterious setup. I'm of the opinion less is more, here. But the finale still had a lot of cool narrative stuff that built upon and tied back to the core themes. I didn't hate it, just wish it stayed more mysterious and ominous.

If you can get past the obvious Skyrim mod jank, this is an EASY recommend for anyone that enjoys timeloop stories like Outer Wilds. Bonus points if you'd enjoy a slight tinge of Roman Empire edginess in your narrative
