Pretty damn solid game, some polish and permanent uptime on EU servers would go a long way.

Is it good as an MMO? No. Is it on today's standard? No. It's an old game that caters to an audience quite different than your every day open world MMO. It's more like an RPG where you go from dungeon to dungeon. Its graphics are not very polished, it's quite old after all. The combat system is very nice, tho it lacks a bit of fluidity imo. It's very BDO like, but BDO does have that fluidity (I just can't be bothered with the enhancing and stuff anymore), tho tbf I haven't enhanced in this game at all yet, that's still to come.
The class designs are PHENOMENAL and I hope other MMOs learn a thing or two from it.

Overall I can say it can be fun, but if you're looking for the next WoW this is not it.

EDIT: Much more gametime, still enjoyable. Leveling is a breeze and finally one where it doesn't feel like a chore. Good pacing.

Disclaimer: I have NOT played Risk of Rain.

The game is incredible. It's stable, the framerate is smooth even with a lot going on, the graphics are very nice to look at and the replayability is already pretty damn good.
You can choose at which pace you wanna go and the difficulty settings make a hell of a difference.
So far it seems they went with what worked in the first game and upped it a notch and straight up added a whole dimension to it. The combat feels super dynamic and action loaded.
When you die you can usually understand what went wrong and change your playstyle accordingly.

Absolutely great game. Haven't gotten better than 2-2 in drafts, but still had fun playing it. The base cost was enough for 2 decks, one semi expensive at ~5€ and one cheap one at about 2€. I haven't played constructed except against a friend, been incredibly fun so far.

Meanwhile I've spent 300€ in Hearthstone and have one functioning deck, because I like trying new things. While in HS I need to disenchant and enchant cards effectively quartering their worth, in Artifact you just sell them for a small fee and get the cards you want to play. Or pay a fraction of the cost for HS/artifact packs and just buy the best cards. Axe + 3 Time of triumph for example is currently sitting at ~35€. Really not much if you compare it to HS.

If you're looking for F2P then play Shadowverse, much better in that regard. But if you have the 20 bucks it's easily worth it.
