The world in this game just kind of feels dead. There's nothing going on on the island, the enemies aren't tough to kill in any meaningful way, and every enemy base feels the same. The only thing that will keep you from taking out even the most fortified enemy bases is pure chance. A drone just happens to randomly fly overhead, etc. Also, the multiplayer is buggy. My girlfriend and I spent about 15 hours playing it before realizing that the reason we were constantly getting spotted by enemies is because some of the enemies don't spawn for whoever's hosting the session. They're visible to everyone else who joins except the host. Makes no sense and makes it impossible to be stealthy in multiplayer. Also, why can we not have AI teammates if only two people are playing co-op?

Tl;dr Just seems like an unfinished game. The story doesn't make sense, the world feels empty, and the quests are repetitive.

For anybody wondering about Proton compatibility:

Works very well. There's some weird stuttering I was experiencing that I fixed by limiting my framerate. It seems to have something to do with my cpu going to idle randomly while playing this game (doesn't happen with other games). Other than that, everything seems fine.

I'm running an RX6600XT and a Ryzen 5800x, managed Ultra at 1080p, >60fps (but with the stuttering. I'll update if I can get that fixed).

Update: I basically just run a single-core cpu stressing program all the time while playing this game. Hacky, but keeps the processor from going to idle and gets rid of the stuttering.

20 hours in:
Good game so far. Playing on Linux. RX6600XT, runs fine on ultra. I've had a random crash every 7 hours or so playing the game, and had one guy T-Pose on me for about two seconds during a fight. Game is pretty bug free.

Edit: @ 50 hours:
This game got boring fast. The plot is shallow, and the whole situation V is in is obviously dire and not going to get better. I don't really have a feeling of hope that anything will turn out well for any of the main characters. A ton of what makes this game fun is the culture shock of being in NC, but once I got over that the things overlooked by CDPR started to become more apparent. It's clear that the primary focus of the development team was the looks of the game. They did a great job at that. But the other parts of the game: plot, driving mechanics, enemy AI, all kind of suck.

Driving in particular is atrocious. I think the fastest car tops out at 100mph (it shows you going much faster, but you're not). The driving and crash physics don't make any sense and aren't consistent. This is probably the thing I dislike the most about the game since it interferes with the best thing about the game: the sightseeing. Driving is the best way to see Night City, and CDPR should have tried harder to implement a working driving system.

As far as combat goes, I don't think there's anything wrong with the theory behind the combat system, it's all implementation issues. The main one being hitboxes. I can miss someone's head by probably 2 feet with a sniper rifle and they'll still die. There are a bunch of fistfights you can take part in during the game, and your enemies can punch you while you're 10+ feet away.

TL;DR: Very pretty game, shallow plot, characters are hard to root for, driving system is about as good as the playstation game "driver", and the combat is pretty good except the hitboxes are stupid in every manner you can imagine. Runs great on Linux.
