I started off very excited to play this game and was enjoying it up until Lace, after her I just cant play the game without getting tilted.

I quickly noticed a pattern of here's a new area, "Whoops its an enemy arena", and oh hey here's a boss, and rarely is it mixed up. One of the charms I found in Hollow Knight was that I could explore the map and either find puzzles or secrets and this game hardly feels like the secrets are optional when they just take you somewhere you need to go, have nothing, or there's just an item that serves no purpose (Apparently nobody knows what the bone scrolls are used for???)

I've gotten really annoyed with the enemies in the arenas being ranged enemies who actively stick to the ceiling and you cannot damage them and when they do decide to detach from the ceiling its to dip down just enough for me to take contact damage from them as I've already attacked and cant do anything about it. If it isn't enough already everything feels like it has too much health or does too much damage, I get this is a sequel but this is a whole new story and I feel that character strength should be built up and that we're expected to be stronger when there's no upgrades available (I've gotten to Greymoor 2 mask shards, 1 spool upgrade, and a single memory locket, I feel like at this point there should be an attack range upgrade at very least)

Currency is already a problem, granted it has a solution of paying 80 beads for a consumable to store 60, but I feel that we shouldn't be seeing HK's late game tactics of "Oh this bench is destroyed" or "you need to pay money for the bench or fast travel system" within the first 3 areas out of 28 locations (according to achievements). Anything that falls into spikes gets destroyed and I've been seeing a lot of spikes everywhere and i lose maybe 2/5th the amount of shell shards and beads i could be getting.

I get that I'm not the best at games but like others have been saying, this game is more frustrating than the previous and I really want to like this game but for 6 years in development I don't think this game is finished or skipped quality assurance since it feels like only the same 4 people play tested it.

Multiplayer will not be co-op. I'm glad that the devs really looked at this franchise and thought "people would love a PVP mode."

Edit: review is being hidden from friends unless they actively seek out my review and doesn't show up under friend review.

I have watched several occasions where the community has expressed their anger and neglect with every update in the community server they have on discord and watched how the mods have handled it with anger and at time verbal abuse and power tripping muting and blocking people for simple things such as typing "F".

with a developer team and moderation team willing to actively insult and provoke its players when they give actual criticism makes me not want to partake in the product sold. I couldn't give a damn about the whole Sony account linking but seeing the game slowly crumble away due to it.

The part I find funny about HellDivers 2 is that it felt like i was playing and watching the updates roll out for 7 days to die where they blocked all forums, pushed out piles of horrible updates that ruined the game, and then wondering why they're being yelled at and their consumers aren't happy.

If the state of the game was as it was the first week of release (without the obvious server issues) i would have made this a positive review, but now I'm left with a game that I don't think i'll be returning to simply due to player treatment.

Early Access Review
I will say that before i would have recommended this game but with how A21 is I just cant. As some reviews say this update is suicide and changes two key points for the game that I've experience along with friends. 1. Skills, alot of crafting is now locked behind skill BOOKS instead of level skills and you need to get lucky enough to get the correct books needed to even make a forge or crafting bench which can lock you up really quickly as in my play through for the update we got to day 5 or 6 when we were finally able to make either crafting stations, and still didn't have metal tools. 2. Water and crafting. they decided to remove jars from the game (but fixed the lakes and rivers to not be all screwy) and made it to where you can only find murky water and you had to choose "do i use this for duct tape or do i purify it for drinking" which according to one DEV on the forums who would respond to criticism against that with "ONcE AgaIN VocAL MinoRiTy". If an upgrade costs 50 duct tape to make and we have to scavenge for dirty water when there's lakes and rivers the problem could've easily been solved some other way and they refuse to acknowledge that fix. There is also the new Dew Collector which you learn how to make early on but its a 3x3 structure and generates 1 water for every time it outputs. With the experimental update that came out also shown to hurt the players when they expect solo and group players to hover around traders as they reduced the skill magazine bundle to reward 3 stacks of 2 different books lowering your odds of getting the books you need to be able to create your means to survive in the "SURVIVAL" game, they've also increased the cost of the water filters ,which you need to purchase as they do not spawn as loot. Considering it took two people to even get a forge on day 5/6 I can't begin to image how long it would take for 1 person to collect the skills even with good RNG.

Being that the game is in the beta as of this review there are expected bugs along with other problems (I.E. text being stuck on the screen time to time, hub notifications constantly appearing every 2 seconds, and Internal errors disconnecting you) its still an enjoyable game and i cant wait for it to be out for full release in the coming days. In the beta there isn't solo play or friends private lobbies yet and the developers have addressed that in some of their announcements that they'd be coming after release early to late December with these features makes it sound like they're out of touch with the community for thinking these were things we didn't want on full release under an excuse of "potential performance problems" as if it would be problematic to host a mission locally and play the game with bots, which personally i don't see how that would be a problem now compared to past titles. Other than those grievances I have no problem with the game since its been entertaining so far and I've been enjoying them game and like other games I've had no problem with waiting for certain features coming at a later date.

After almost 100% of equipment found, all if not 90% of dungeons found and cleared, all 42 achievements, 159 hours I can say that Elden Ring, Albeit hard, challenging, difficult, and soul crushing at times, is a game i'd recommend if you hate yourself and seek self accomplishment. The game does have its moments where you never want to come back after ramming your head into a wall for hours on end, especially starting at the middle point of the game and forward, I've had my fun with the game and I've had moments where i absolutely hate not just the gameplay for several moments but the amount of design, thought and attack pattern for the more major optional bosses But at the end of this nearly 160 hour journey of a game, don't let my review stop your or keep you questioning this game before you buy it, its an experience and a journey (or several) for you to enjoy in your own ways.
