Yes, it's Early Access but that was to be expected. Performance wise is not great but it's also not bad. They targeted an audience and they got it. Since i trust Kunos with their EA, i know they will keep their part and make the game better.
Just don't expect that a system with 10 years will run this perfectly. It's 2025 and as we all know, technology is going forward and a modern average GPU and CPU is required for most tittles. And yet it runs respectably good for what it offers in a 0.1 Alpha version.
Handling is great but also confusing. Some curves grip and some don't. Tyre model is great and finally a step up from Assetto Corsa.
Force Feedback is great even on default. Tried with a cheap PXN V99 wheel, pedals and gears and also with a Moza R16 and they both felt also a step up from previous tittles. It will only get better.
VR is at the moment unusable for most people, me included, because it's too early. Roadmap shows 0.2 version with some improvements about VR.

Lower your expectations but embrace Sim Racing with Assetto Corsa Evo. It's a great tittle that is going to become what Assetto Corsa became after final release. Remember, Assetto Corsa had 1 car and 1 track on the release day.
