While the dlc adds some good mechanics that really feel like a natural part of the game, I cant say I'm happy about it.

Sailing should have been in the game on release, not in a DLC thats added 4 years later for 25euros. There are a bunch of things that need to be added in to the game, and still a whole lot of game breaking bugs that need to be patched.

Look, I love bannerlord. theres no other game (except for warband ;D) that gives you the same feeling, but there is so much wrong with this game atm, so adding a dlc for 25eur that gives you gameplay mechanics that should've been apart of the game at launch feels kinda disrespectful. Especially when the DLC also has its fair share of bugs.

And don't even get me started on the story. TaleWorlds, please just stick to what you're good at and NEVER EVER try to make a story mode. the story feels like a high school project.

This game is kinda like Christian Bale, but instead of looking like he does now, he gains 60 kilos and starts limping. Yeah sure, he might look decent. He will certainly look good sometimes, but what you'll ultimately end up with is just disappointment stemming from unrealized potential. What if he just lost some weight and got medical help with his limp? He would instantly go from a 5-6 to a 10!

I love this game. No other game gives you the feeling of raising an army by yourself and then beating an enemy who has two times more soldiers than you. But there is still so much thats lacking from this game that really should be added. Like it is truly one of a kind and fantastic in many ways, but it still has some big problems.

Diplomacy
There is pretty much no diplomacy. You can declare war/peace, you can sign trade agreements and you can get allies, but that's it. The system is so bare bones that most people will just have an army and do whatever they want until war is declared. There is no strategy involving politics or diplomacy at all which is really sad. It would add a whole new layer on top of this beautiful foundation that we currently have.

AI lords
This section will be shorter than the previous one. I just want to warn you that the AI will drive you absolutely nuts every 2 hours or so.

Bugs
While the first section sheds light on the issue of not fulfilling its potential, this part is just straight critique going right at the developers. I love TaleWorlds, they're awesome, but something really needs to be done about the bugs. There are MULTIPLE game breaking bugs still causing problems 4 YEARS after release. Sometimes, when launching the game, I have to restart the game like 5 times when it repeatedly goes infinite loading screen. Sometimes I can't enter settlements which also forces me to restart the game. These kinds of problems occuring 4 years after launch is just unacceptable.

I still have to recommend the game though. It is truly awesome, it just leaves a lot to be desired, both in terms of features and bug fixing.

I saw someone write that the devs accidentally made a good game and that they have tried to kill it with every update since, and that is painfully accurate.

I remember the game at launch. It was great. Guns felt fun to use, stratagems were all different and unique and most of them were viable. While not a TON has changed, the guns and gunplay feel weaker and less "controllable" if that makes sense.

What changed this? Grunt fantasy. Arrowheads die hard and unreasonable love for grunt fantasy has put a lid on what made this game so fun. Every single time something was too fun to use, the devs just had to nerf it. Having actual fun and powerful weapons would obviously prohibit grunt fantasy, right?

What made this game fun was feeling like you were in a team of highly capable helldivers using powerful equipment to take down enemies and objectives together. Nowadays you're just a group of weak soldiers who get ragdolled by someone breathing down your neck or killed by accidentally touching a square inch of lava. It is honestly really sad since they really had it all figured out at launch.

Without even mentioning the really big and harmful problems with this game possibly damaging your hardware, I can't with good conscience recommend buying this game at its current state.

If you see gameplay and think that you'll like the game, honestly you might, but just know that its not the same game that once made it so fun and popular.
