The reason that a philosophical person drinks their tea with the bag in is because this serves as an analogy to the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. At the beginning of the cup, the tea is mild, though flavourful. It therefore entices us to continue to consume the warm beverage. Like so with philosophy. In the beginning, our pursuit of knowledge is refreshing as we explore new mental models and ideas about concepts which the common person may take for granted. As our cup becomes more empty, and as we begin to understand how little we know for certain, we are confronted with the natural bitterness that accompanies the realization that our day to day assumptions may in-fact be incorrect.
