So I've beaten the game and had time to think about it.

The core gameplay, is fire. Smooth, runs well, fun, addictive, and just overall well designed. The music is amazing. I gotta buy the soundtrack. The graphics are nice. Not great, not bad, but just a pleasure to look at. The voice acting is well done and sounds nice.

I've never cared for a roguelite story so I got nothing to say about it.

The issue comes into the second "gameplay" the roguelite elements. I think this is a good game but a bad roguelite. I don't know what they can do to fix it either. I feel like it needs to be removed or completely different. People say the numbers don't matter, I think they do and I can tell the difference, it's just not fun.

Maybe they can go with longer levels, more enemy variety, a more Dead Cells, Robo quest roguelite route.
Or they can go more open world, risk of rain type roguelite. I just think something needs to change with it's whole design to bring me a reason to come back.

One of the best survival games out there. Not too grindy (but still has the grind). Plays more like an immersive with survival mechanics. I'm all for it.

Early Access Review
New update is a step in the right direction. Better gameplay loop, better runs. better item system, less extraction based. However it's still missing that combat depth. At one point late game I was just spamming basic attack and it was quite effective and very unappealing. I think combat needs some tweaking. I want to engage in encounters for the fun of it, not the necessity.

While not as good as Mullins next game, this is the game that started his: "defies" what a video game can be theming. If you enjoy video games as a medium, give this a try. It'll re-shape your perspective on what this medium can be...

This is one of the best games I have had the pleasure of playing. Is it perfect? No. Yet, it somehow doesn't matter. Art direction is strange, sounds are alright, music can't find a pattern or perfect consistency. It does not matter. The gameplay is incredible. The highs are insane and constant. Accessibility is insane and super helpful for swapping to a controller. Run time is the perfect length (6 hours for beating main game, 8-10 for 100%ing). Running in Directx11 makes it run perfect on Steam Deck with little compromise.

Only thing I wish for is more customization play through (always gun game, lower perk capacity as examples.), and more players in multiplayer. But this is just wants to an already four course meal already.

10/10. If it barely sparks an interest buy it. The best game this year with the highest highs.

This game feels like Bladerunner the game...
Like the beginning and middle are pretty eh but the ending is amazing.

I feel as though comparing this to Katana Zero isn't right. The gameplay, story, graphics, don't match. I also feel this game misses what made Katana Zero good, but doesn't use this.
Pros:
-Graphics are freaking gorgeous
-Gameplay is fast, fluid, and a lot of fun
-Music is incredible. If you buy this game buy the ost version. Worth it.
-The final stretch of the final level was awesome. Peak gameplay/story there.

Cons:
-The dialogue drags. It's not really entertaining, and struggles to get to the point. Cutscenes felt like they should be 25% shorter. Katana Zeros dialogue was fast and engaging. Katana Zero makes you "feel" like your choices matter and the dialogue has a lot of colors and flavors to make it interesting. This game does not have that... The camera pans really extend the cutscene length somehow...
-First two levels are a slog. Combined with all levels are very long. The story elements especially in the first two, add very little. After that it gets moving
-The introduction... is... bad... The graphic style doesn't quite fit. It feels corny, typical, and out of place for what the game is trying to do. I get there are story reasons but it could've been more cohesive and fit the art direction (The trees do not match the art style and it was quite bothersome). The music also did not fit the rest of the game. Boy do they like reminding you of the intro every chance they get...

I recommend this game but I had to fight to keep going. Some people might have to as well.
