What a terrible first impression this game made. I played it for free through a weekend event, and I still felt like my time had been wasted. Looks visually unimpressive, and the first quests available were all the most generic "go here and kill 8 molerats" garbage. No way in hell I'm even paying $5 to try it again, let alone $20.

I very strongly recommend you wait to see if they patch this game a bit more. Controller support is spotty, cutscenes skip and drop audio, animations are broken. It's not 100% trash, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is it a shaky experience. I've only been playing ME1 so far, so I can't speak to the other two, but if they're anything like ME1, WAIT TO BUY THIS until it's on sale or fixed.

This game exemplifies why people like me prefer to wait for games to be out for a while before they buy. I don't know first-hand what kind of shape this game was in at launch, but I can say that for the $30 I got it for during one of the many sales, it has been well worth the price. Frequent free content upgrades. Infinite space exploration. Space battles. Learning space languages. Doin' a thing.

Maybe I'll finish it one day, if that's a thing.

Eh, it's not for me or for everyone. I don't play games to get gud at them unless getting gud is optional and a bonus. I ain't got time to run through the same area five, ten, fifteen, thirty times just to progress, or solely to get good enough at the mechanics to progress. Story's pretty interesting, but the bulk of it is hidden in item descriptions -- I bought a video game, not a novella -- and most of the plot that relates to the player's actions is vague as hell and will require YouTube lore specialists to break it down for you.

So basically, play this if you want an epic challenge. If you're like me, and you don't like spending a hundred hours of your life perfecting your mastery over a single game just to see the credits and go "hmm, okay but actually what?", probably do something else. Or do what I'm doing, and load up a trainer to beat it that way. Now I just need a walkthrough to figure out which of the infinity directions will actually progress the story.

A really unique AAA game. You don't really see AAA games where the mechanics revolve around more than shooting guys and driving to the next area to shoot more guys.

Keep your eyes out for the VR version coming in November!

Good thing this was cheap when I got it, because even though this was incredibly engaging and I was kind of breathlessly glued to the screen the entire time, I will probably certainly never play this again. There's really no point to it. The story didn't seem like anything I'll gain by watching it again. The ending is sort of open-ended so there's possibility it's meant to be discussed, but unless I seriously missed something, it's no Memento or Twin Peaks. Just a neat, self-contained story told in a beautiful way. No real plot holes so it didn't offend me, and none of the characters even talk so there's not much to complain about since it works well.

Overall 7-8/10 but I am almost certain to never ever play this again if that means anything to you

This is a rare game that I believe literally anyone can enjoy in the right setting. Soccer with cars and rocket jumping and boosting and aerial goals and last-second overtime saves and 7-1 blowouts that feel more like 3-2 games and people calling you retarded in the chat.

The most fun I've had with a game all year by far.

Load times remain absurd, prices of most items remain inaccessible without grinding or mtx, and hacking is still rampant. There's not many open world games like this, so you know if you're going to buy it or not regardless. If you're on the fence, I'd avoid it until it's on a deep sale. $20 max.

There are so many different ways you can play this game and do well. Each separate Civilization has a handful of different strategies that can get you the lead, and you can echoes to ignore them all and play with your own style entirely.
