Dead Cells is a challenging but rewarding Roguevania game. Yes, one where you will die quite a bit. Die quite a bit before the and at the first boss. And die quite a bit leading up to and facing the final boss. But this is not a punishing game. It is a challenging game. It rewards you with drops, weapons, and power unlocks at a regular pace. Each run, you will get a new toy. And you do slowly make progress after each area is cleared. Plus, with the wide variety of weapons, sub-weapons, and powers, you can find your favorite toys to play with. And you can customize it so that the weapons or abilities you don't use won't appear again. And the times you do get the kill in, you feel so much like a badass.

Dead Cells was released in 2018 by Motion Twin, an Anarcho-Syndicalist Workers' Co-op. No Seriously. There have been frequent updates and DLCs released since then. Which one adds to an already polished experience.

Extra Credits is right. This game is a hard punch to the gut.
