Playing this game was a life-changing experience, and I don't mean that lightly. I wasn't really around when this game first released so I didn't really get to experience the true cultural impact it had initially. I had seen it and intended it play it, so I waited until it was on sale to pick it up, and I'm so glad I did. After completing it, it skyrocketed into my top 2 games ever played, and I kicked myself for not experiencing this work of art much earlier.

Yoko Taro has, in my disgustingly humble opinion, created nothing less than one of the finest and most notable games of it's generation. The combat is immensely fun, and despite being relatively simple, goes much deeper than one would probably discover without experimentation. I urge anyone who picks this up to test different builds, because if you just use the default setup the entire game, I daresay that you're missing out on several fun and unique weapon interactions. On top of this, the game plays very well and is fairly intuitive. I never really found myself getting that lost due to the more linear nature of the map, though I will critique the game's viewable map in the pause menu to be somewhat lacking and confusing at times.

I could not publish a review without mentioning the soundtrack at least once - it's absolutely stunning. It does an amazing job at making you feel immersed in the world Yoko Taro has created here, and despite having previous gen graphics, it's a gorgeous one. My personal favorite ones are the City Ruins theme, and the Desert theme.

Unfortunately, this game is not perfect. My main critique has to do with some bits of the story, but I won't be going into spoilers. Regardless, I still absolutely adore the narrative despite a few personal issues, and it's one I would still wholeheartedly recommend to anyone and everyone. I beg you give this game a try, and if you do, play it to completion. It has one of the absolute best endings to a game I've ever seen, and I can't think of anything that tops it.

Overall, bravo, Yoko Taro. Thank you for making this game.
A2 best girl.
