Packed with content. Might seem a bit confusing at the start, but it doesn't take long to learn. Does eventually get to a point where you might feel you're just doing the same campaign over and over again, but luckily there are multiple modes to try out, two pretty cool DLCs, and plenty of mods to continue the fun.
It's a tad bit what you make it into. If you get really into it, you could play this game foreeveeeer.
TIP: Don't feel too much at a loss for losing a character or something you care for. Just let the game go as it does, and allow the plot to thicken...
Oh, and should probably add: The music is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great

- Forced to go through once again another space-story with an every-day space-lore
- After 40 minutes can finally play with friends
- Uses 10 minutes to get to those friends
- All of you land on a planet to mine copper for a mission
- The single deposit of copper in a 2 miles radius has just enough for one player
- Blindly fly around in you space ship without being able to search for deposits in hopes of finding one
- Run out of gas because you used it up getting to your friends earlier (would actually take 3-5 hours if you didn't use the warp, so don't come here and say that it's my fault for simply wasting it, I don't have 3-5 hours for that)
- Get stuck on said planet without being able to go anywhere with the ship and use forever to find a copper resource
- Realize that another mindless time consuming survival game isn't worth it
- Close the game
- Uninstall
- Write a negative review just so others doesn't use 20 dollars (which is a 50% sale, God help those who wants it after said sale)
- Hope for refunds

Sums it up, donnit

Early Access Review
I want to start by saying that I love Subnautica.
Had access to it back in the early days, and whilst I never got too far, I've had grat times playing it.

What I enjoyed about Subnautica, is the exploration, eerie-ness of the deep sea, discovering oddities, and most of all: Buildig a base to call my own. Never have I ever found interest in the story, but that's what so great about the game: Those who don't care about story and just wants to play a game, can do so. Those who wants to know why they're there and everything around that, can explore the many databases and missions from radio messages spread across the ocean. Story is optional.

Subnautica: Below Zero however, has a suprisingly hard time with delivering this.

I'll give the devs two plusses.
One: Good on you for trying new things.
Two: This game has a great amount of odd creatures and weird things to discover, not to forget loads of vechiles that aren't in the game yet, but looks fun to use once it gets released.

That's about all the goodies.

The game forces story on you. That sucks.
A survival game shouldn't force that ontop of you! You want to explore, build, survive, not follow a book. Other games understand this, with Don't Starve, The Forest, ARK: Survival and the original Subnautica having an optional story, whilst Minecraft, Rust and Stranded Deep not having any at all.

It's not like I'm against a plot. Subnautica has a big lore, or so it seems, therefor it makes sense to give a bit of a backstory. But then do it like The Forest or Subnautica, in which all you need is a 20 seconds intro before you enter the wilderness and discover the rest of the story by yourself.

The worst part about the forced story, and this is truly expirience-breaking: It's required to unlocks items.
Yes, to be able to build yourself a base, you have to play and follow the story for about 2 hours. That's way too many hours you have to play before you can get one of the key elements of Subnautica.

Another problem with a forced story, is that this game i buggy. Meaning that if ONE bug ruins a part of the story, you can't procceed, just like old christmas tree lights.

The game continuesly spouts out how the voice acting is going to be polished, but that's truly not the biggest problem you got here (Btw the voice acting is fine. Unless if you're going to replace them with Tara Strong and Nancy Cartwright, I don't really see the point of focusing so heavily on the voice acting).

What you got here, is a buggy, smaller, less content (Yes I know it's NEW content, which is great, but you've seen most of the creatures by the time you even get the builder's tool), non balanced (the Sea Glide doesn't improve the player's movement at all, unless if it's 01%. I get it had to be nerfed for the smaller map, but now it's just a waste of materials) and a story that's forced down your throat.

This game should've been a DLC for Subnautica, a new area to expand the old map. Not a whole new game for a whopping 16 dollars.
I have no faith in this being fixed, as the devs are clearly heavily devoted to making sure every single player gets to know the story this time around, unlike the previous game. Too much would've been changed to make it better, and as we all learnt from Subnautica, the devs are no fans of redesigning their own game (*hark* they said to get multiplayer in subnautica they would have to redesign the game completely so they pushed it for several years whilst now newly some random modder added the feature to the game and it works completely fine *hark*).

This might just sound like a big rant, but trust me, it's all out of the love I have for Subnautica. I'm not hating, I'm just angry over how this project turned, as I was really excited.

I can't recommend this game. Perhaps wait and see if it changes, but man, I truly have no hope for that. My prediction is that they'll just continuesly add more content like bosses and items, but not fixing the problems I've adressed.

So yeah, it's a clear "Nope* from me.
