Demo does exactly what a demo should do - you get enough to play so you can understand the controls and the vibe of the game.
If you read the "buy" screen or go to the upgrade menu, you see that there is a decent bit to unlock as well as more to play (stage-wise).
Demo is free so there's no reason not to go for it if you're at all curious.

Early Access Review
The game has incredible potential with some of the best art, combat, and animations I've seen.
A genuine joy to play.

The biggest issue I have is the amount of resources it takes to experiment with skills and weapons. I feel like I'm being punished for trying out different skills or crafting a weapon that I cannot use because the requirements are absurdly high or the animations (which are lovely) completely change how the weapon plays and don't work with my playstyle. I absolutely adore the variety and love the combat, but at least show us a little preview of how the weapons attack and what the runes do.

I've also stopped playing because of the character wipe and complete gameplay redesign that is going to happen in 1.0.

Great game to sink many hours into with an incredibly amount of potential - just know that the game is going to change and character wipe (hopefully this year).

I've played all of my hours on the Steam Deck OLED. The gameplay can get choppy when moving to different areas and runs at around 35fps on average.

I've beat this game countless times on 360 and consider it to be one of the best horror/survival horror games ever made.

WILD to realize it came out 11 years ago.

I think my total game time was around an hour and a half (that's what steam overlay said) and I finished everything ;) and got all the achievements. (Refer to my edit for this.)

My only disappointment was that there were no animations. For 5$, I feel like they should be there...otherwise it's just a nudity powerpoint. There were also no sounds (this is being added in apparently. I didn't really care much about that, but some people do, so yeah).

Story was decent. Better than BL3. Lots of branching storylines and endings.

Good models and graphics/textures.

AND you only need to use your mouse ;)

...oh and nice gallery support.

Edit: Keep in mind, this game has a save and load feature as well as a storyboard one that allows you to go to any point of the story that you want to...whether for achievements...or research purposes. ...I did not know this...so I, like the smart human that I was at 3am...literally restarted the game every. time. I reached one of the endings. That's why it took so long. I've read that you could get "done" with this game in ~15 minutes. But we both know damn well it'll stay installed.

Aside from the rubbish story, it's a worthy successor to Borderlands 2.

TotalBiscuit was right, this game is bloody difficult.

I have a VERY short amount of gameplay on this, but figure I'd give a review for anyone looking AFTER playing RoR2.

I love Risk of Rain 2. I love this game. Both are fantastic. This game is easily the hardest of the two.

I highly recommend picking this up because it has such a different gameplay feel to it. Just be ready to die. A lot.

Exodus improves upon the best parts of it's predecessor(s) while making big steps forward to progress the series; this is the best installment.
