Relaxing fishing game with Lovecraftian elements. I thought the fishing elements were fun and the small changes between the types of minigames for the fish was perfectly enough to keep it fresh but still familiar. If you're not good with jump scares, but are still interested in playing, pull the trigger! There is also a mode where you can turn town the horror elements if you'd like, but I personally would not recommend it as the horror elements add to the tension in the game in such a good way!

A deceptively well done visual novel, especially considering it's price point. It is short but also thought provoking, and has great music, art and writing. I am very happy that I played this and I think it will be on my mind for quite a while. I look forward to the next game that the developer is making!

Lilith is a better Monika and is definitely just as real as the person reading this review

I've finally found a gacha that I want to stick with. The roguelike systems encourage replayability while also lightening the blow of my terrible luck with pulls.

I love my daughters and can't bear the thought of letting them down.

I own the original but never played it. Grabbed this when it dropped because "why not?". For context: I have only played Skyrim. Played it on PS3 as well as a bit on PC.

This feels like a whole new game! I was excited to watch the livestream when they revealed that they were releasing this. The world feels dark and gritty to me, but after going through some of the guild quest lines the world has really opened up to me and I am interested in exploring everything I can find. Some of the mechanics are dated but by and large I really enjoy them. The few that I don't like I chose to just mod out of my game.

I recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed Skyrim. There are some performance issues that really should be fixed by Bethesda, but you can temporarily fix some of those issues with mods as well. Personally I downloaded a new ini file and did some research online for the best graphics settings for my GPU. This caused me to enjoy Oblivion so much more than I originally was. It shouldn't be up to the consumer to fix these issues, but at the same time I am thankful for the fixes that others have put out because it lets me enjoy this game.

This is my first Dynasty Warriors game. I have played one "Warriors" style game in the past, so this genre is pretty new to me, but I have generally been aware of this series and it's genre. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with this. Blasting through hordes of enemy soldiers is very fun and I appreciate the flashy moves that happen with special attacks and parries. The story is also pretty intriguing so far and I constantly want to know what will happen next.

Most difficult thing that I've came across in this game is the decision on if I would rather simp for Sun Shangxiang or Diaochan so this is a 10/10 game for me and makes me want to explore more of the Dynasty Warriors series.

TLDR; Game Good. Buy Game.

God of War: Ragnarok - A Masterpiece of Modern Gaming

I hope Sony continues to port over more PlayStation classics because I am so glad I waited to play this game myself rather than just watching someone else play it online. I absolutely LOVED God of War (2018) and, admittedly, was hesitant about Ragnarok. I’d heard people say they didn’t enjoy 2018 and that Ragnarok made them fall out of love with the series even more. Naturally, I worried I wouldn’t enjoy Ragnarok as much as its predecessor. But wow—am I glad to have been proven wrong. This game restored my faith in gaming as a whole.

A Gripping Story

God of War: Ragnarok is the sequel to the 2018 installment, set during the approach of Ragnarok in the Norse realms. Kratos and his son Atreus must navigate and survive in this turbulent world. The storytelling is masterful and kept me on the edge of my seat for almost the entire playthrough.

While there were moments where the pacing left a lot to be desired, the major story beats hit so powerfully that I often found myself unable to stop playing—even at the expense of completing side quests. Rarely do I physically react to games, but this one had me yelling, laughing, and even crying as I journeyed through its narrative. Out of the entire game, I can count on one hand the number of story moments I didn’t enjoy—a rare feat. The game only rarely felt campy, and even those moments didn’t detract from the experience.

Polished Combat

The combat in Ragnarok builds on the foundation of 2018’s system but feels much more refined. The core mechanics remain: stringing combos together, building stun on enemies, and unleashing devastating attacks. However, the weapon skill trees feel more intentional, making each upgrade choice meaningful.

Switching between weapons is also more rewarding. In 2018, I rarely used the Blades of Chaos, but in Ragnarok, I found myself frequently swapping between weapons to handle fights more efficiently. While it’s possible to button-mash your way through most encounters, real satisfaction lies in mastering weapon combos and swapping between them seamlessly to be able to clear encounters in the blink of an eye. You truly feel like a God of War once combat clicks with you.

The Valhalla DLC - A Fitting Finale

Valhalla, the DLC included with the game, adds a fantastic conclusion to the Norse saga. The ending of this DLC fills me with excitement not only for the future of the God of War franchise but also for gaming as a whole.

In a time where it seems like AAA studios try to pump out AAA games at AAAA pricing but still somehow deliver a story that pales in comparison to a lot of indie or 3rd party games that I play, I was admittedly losing hope for the future of gaming. I was afraid of receiving more uninspired, unpolished and unoptimized games where I was expected to still thank the developers for selling it to me. But this DLC put such a great bow on the Norse story of God of War that I'm convinced that it is entirely possible to continue to receive great games that are really an experience for the player (especially without needing to invest hundreds of hours for a single play through).

This game reminded me of what it felt like to be a kid again, fully engrossed in a story-driven adventure. I sincerely want to thank Santa Monica Studio and everyone involved in this project for making it happen.

Closing Thoughts

If you enjoyed God of War (2018), you will love Ragnarok. If you’re a fan of the older God of War games and hesitant about the shift in tone and gameplay, grab 2018 if it's on a sale—it’s often on sale—and then dive into Ragnarok.

If you’re completely new to the series, I recommend beginning with 2018, which does an excellent job of introducing the lore. For those curious about the earlier games, YouTube has fantastic compilations of the God of War series—ranging from 20 minutes to 7 hours, depending on how deep you want to go.

Please don’t let yourself miss out on this masterpiece of modern gaming and storytelling.

I have only experienced Phantom Pain and I really enjoyed this. The VR missions were fun and Metal Gear Solid reminds me a lot of Resident Evil games in the sense that once you beat it, then the fun comes from trying to beat it faster and faster so you can get better rankings. 100% was lowkey annoying only because of all the dang VR missions. I could see Super Fans really enjoying the VR missions, but to me they were a nice inclusion but nothing that really added to my enjoyment of the game itself.

Edit: After 69(nice) hours I am still having graphical issues. As well as doing the below suggestion I am also running the game on High instead of Very High settings and haven't encountered them since

Very happy to have this on PC after so many years.

This game turns my PC into a heater for my office, but it runs very well except for a few small issues I had in the opening when the ships look like they're from Minecraft.

I also had an issue after starting the game where I could boot to a black screen -- MAKE SURE FSR3 IS OFF!! I changed that and I was able to play the game!

Looking forward to petting all the foxes while I explore Tsushima again!!
