I really feel this truly is the right direction for this series to go. The game feels great. It's like rediscovering the first game all over again. Sony being the publisher aside; Arrowhead has earned my trust with their handling of all their previous games (i.e. continuing to update and support the original helldivers on the playstation vita, years after sony abandoned the platform.)

Overall the gameplay loop is fun. The combat feels overwhelming at times, but in a good way. Discovering the hidden points of interest on the map while completing objectives is a lot of fun too. And finding the premium currency in game in these locations is just the cherry on top for encouraging exploration.

I'm a little upset that there are no direct weapon or stratagem upgrades anymore. Instead it's been replaced with using samples to upgrade your ship which gives bonuses to different stratagems and weapons. I am a fan of the game having specialized versions of the weapons though (concussive assault rifle, incendiary shotgun, etc.)

I do have a couple issues that I hope will be rectified though. Either bug enemies are too beefy, or the primary weapons need to do more damage. I understand it's supposed to be difficult and you're not only supposed to rely on your primary weapon. But in so many instances, it feels like I'm shooting a dart gun at my enemies. Secondly, I'm running into an issue where when I first start the game, my frames per second are nice and high (80-90). But then after a couple hours, it starts dipping to 50fps. No temperature issues, no reduced clock speeds on cpu or gpu (i9 9900k and 3080). It might be something on my end, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's manageable, just bothersome.

*EDIT*
The parts I crossed out have been fixed. Weapons are in a wonderful spot now and overall performance has greatly improved.
