It took me 18 hours to get through the tutorial. I'm about to start the actual game. Recommended.

This game is so good, it doesn't even matter that it's not finished.
One of the most solid boomer shooters available

This game works horribly on a modern PC, it should absolutely not be sold in this state.

- Sensitivity is extremely high because it expects a lower mouse poll rate than is normal today
- 1080p is not supported unless you edit an ini file
- Menus feel horrible due to the mouse snapping to buttons
- Key prompts are nonexistent
- Movement/looking is wonky

I bought this for $1.50 and I still don't want it

Let me start off by saying I don't really like boomer shooters and I've never played Quake, Chasm, STALKER, or Dusk, which it seems like most reviews are drawing a comparison to.

But I really like this game.

The setup is simple; you're a person on a mission to push a button at the end of the level. To get to that button, you'll need to find a series of hidden keys to pass through a series of doors. And of course there's enemies the whole time that you'll need to shoot. The game doesn't try too hard to push the boundaries of this formula, and instead focuses on creating a tight, quality experience with the few moving parts it has.

The level design is interesting, and I was never really lost or confused despite the game being almost completely brown. The puzzles aren't particularly difficult, but solving them while clearing enemies is very satisfying. Weapons can be found in every level that will help you push through the tough parts, and they are placed thoughtfully so that you get them right when you need them.

The enemies in this game are also really great. There are maybe 10 different types that are all interesting fun to fight in their own distinct way. The AI is smart enough to jump on things to get to you, and when they shoot at you it feels both challenging and fair.

My one nitpick is that the save system is sort of weird. The game allows you to save at any moment, so you could technically just save before and after every major fight and cakewalk through the whole game. It also carries your stats/inventory over from level to level, so if you finish level 1 with 44 health and a grenade launcher you will now enter level 2 with 44 health and a grenade launcher. BUT, it doesn't autosave at that point so if you then quit out and start level 2 later... you're back to square 1 with 100 health and a dinky pistol. After accidentally doing this to myself twice, I just committed to never using the save system and finishing every level in one go with a fresh start. And actually, I liked this much better. Starting with only a pistol forces you to look for better guns, which have been thoughtfully placed around each map seemingly for this very reason. And once you know the rhythm of a level, most of them can be beaten in a few minutes anyways. I just found it a little strange that the levels are all individually loadable and carefully designed to be doable without additional weapons, but then the game also allows you to just savescum and snowball your weapon collection through each level. These two design decisions kind of clash and it made me a bit confused about how exactly the game was intended to be played.

All in all though this game is very cool and fun. It took me about 10 hours to beat every currently available level (episode 1 + the first level of episode 2) so I feel like I got my moneys worth already. I can't wait for the rest of episode 2!

Put simply this game is a surrealist rainbow six/mario 64 mashup with a persistent stock market. This sounds insane on paper, and it is insane in practice, but somehow this actually comes together incredibly well to create one of the most engaging and punishing shooters I've ever played.

I honestly don't know how somebody could not like this game. Just buy it

This game is okay in it's content, it's basically an arcadey zombie game like house of the dead or something, but in VR instead of with a light gun.

That's pretty much where the good parts end.

For some reason all of the 3 guns I've tried are flat black, even when shining my headlamp directly on them, and they all have ridiculous sights that don't make any sense. I'll attribute the blackness to a lighting bug, but it was present when I got this game in September and it is still present. Because the sights are black, and the background is black, this means you're generally lining up black on black and just guessing. The sidearm has a glowing sight, which should help, but the rear part is insanely skinny and tall for some reason, meaning it's impossible to actually line up a shot with it. This is in my opinion the single worst aspect of this game.

I only played two missions. In the second mission, you have to wait several minutes while the zombies shamble towards you while taking potshots with your weird sights. Luckily, there are bright white tracers that you can use to hip fire semi-accurately from this distance, so you might get a few. By the time they are near you, they will be overwhelming. The best strategy I found was to hold a chainsaw in one hand to take out one line of zombies and fire a sidearm (the weakest weapon in the game) into the faces of the other line until they were all gone. Of course, you will run out of ammo quickly if you don't periodically check the ammo thingy that spawns directly behind you and shoot it. If you somehow manage to grind this method for the 60-90 seconds you need to to get through the wave, there's a boss! Yay!

The boss shoots missiles at you which are ridiculously hard to dodge (unless you squat) and when they hit you they make you mostly blind with a weird green smoke effect. Since you're, you know, blind, you're almost certain to get hit with another blindness missile. So now you're mostly blind, firing a pistol at a flying shadow that you can barely see, aiming with tracers because your sights suck. After that, there was a seemingly invincible smoke cloud throwing babies at me and I rage quit.

Do not buy this game, it's not worth $20 in its current state (12/5/17). Go get Brookhaven or HordeZ instead.

This is absolutely not the game that was advertised. It basically boils down to endless inventory management in an infinite (yet boring) universe. Combat sucks, all the planets are more or less the same, all the aliens are the same, all the quests are the same, all the ships are the same... this game basically sucks. I bought it on launch day and played it for 2 days. I have no motivation to play more. Do not buy.
