Just remember the first time you play this game, you need to savor it as much as possible. Your first playthrough will be incredibly special. Trust me.

I haven't felt this good about a battlefield game since BF4. The game runs like butter, sounds like PTSD, and feels like heaven.

There are some things that need ironed out like class balance, map changes, and so forth.

Alright, look...Let's cut the crap. The game itself is absolutely fantastic. Imagine a Sci-Fi Sea of Thieves that trims the fat and lets you get straight to the fun stuff. It has progression that isn't JUST cosmetic. No, it's not pay to win. When all cylinders are firing, this game is absolutely peak.

BUT

The devs made a terrible mistake of putting a $30 price tag on the game. Because of this, it really is hurting in the playerbase department. Not alot of people are playing it. The marketing for the game was great until it for some reason, kinda fizzled out.

This game needs to be free to play. I say that with their best interest in mind. The issue is, that this game NEEDS players. As many as possible. It doesn't have that.

With that being said, I think you should still buy the game. I have no doubt they will shift to a F2P package for all players.

You can't call yourself an RPG fan without at least TRYING this absolute classic. Don't let the dated graphics and gameplay fool you, this game is a real gem. The music, characters, stories, and lore is absolutely S tier.

My biggest problems with the game:

-Combat encounters can be poorly balanced and have weird difficulty spikes.

-The game will not work without adding a 4gb patch. You can do so here steam://openurl/https://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=233222451 (Don't worry it's super simple to install.)

-I'd say Madd's Gift Guide, 5th Dog Slot, and Bash are essential mods for new players. You'll find the game much more enjoyable having these make the game just a tiny bit more accessible without compromising the vanilla experience.

Conclusion

Get the game and give it a fair chance, 3 hours is all I'm asking. You'll be sucked in by then.

This game is fantastic. It is the perfect balance between comedic gold and genuine terror. You will have truly memorable moments playing this game. Don't miss out on it, buy it.

At the time of this review, I'm only 2 hours in. I already can't contain the amount of love I feel from this game, and the joy it brings me. Right from the getgo, you can feel the immense passion poured into this game. The characters, music, pixel art, and overall vibe are fantastic. I haven't experienced something like this since the release of Stardew Valley.

The game constantly throws new mechanics, upgrades, characters, and quests at you. Keeping it as fresh as the fish you slice up at the sushi shop. I can't wait to see more. This game is worth every penny and is something I'd recommend to any type of gamer. You won't regret it.

Back at the launch of the game, I honestly had a decent time with what I played. Upon hearing all the bad reviews, It honestly scared me off and I never continued playing. I refrained from posting a review hoping that I could come back in the future to a better game.

So the new expansion comes out, server queues and some connectivity hiccups are completely normal and to be expected for big releases such as this. I have no problem with that. I managed to get into the game and play for about an hour, I remembered how bad and muddy this game looks. The gameplay was mediocre, it felt nice and chunky but is super simple and lacks depth. Harvesting and crafting materials is oddly satisfying.

I was willing to give this game a chance, until I got out of the tutorial zone and made my way to the first town. Upon entering the area, I had constant COMPLETE freezes of the game, terrible pop-in, and crashes. It was literally unplayable. Upon crashing, I'd try to reboot the game only to run into terribly long loading screens that took me 3-4 minutes. There are some serious optimization issues with this game, and I simply cannot recommend it until things get ironed out in hopefully a timely manner. This experience personally, turned me off to the game and now I am uninterested to ever return or consider purchasing the expansion. I simply feel like I can find better video games to play, and MMO's with much more ambition then New World's.

You'd expect a game that is backed by a multi-billion dollar company to at LEAST have that AAA polish. Sadly, I feel like I'm playing an Indie game, and i'm not here for it. I really wanted to like this game, and it does have some fun aspects to it, but I just don't feel any of the love or passion that other game studios have in abundance. It feels like a cash-grab at this point, and the expansion is simply just for the sake of damage control in hopes that they can lessen some of their losses.

Ignore the bad reviews regarding free to play. The game is in fact free to play but is restricted to a limited number of games that periodically refresh. It's a great option for people looking to give this game a try and learn a bit more about how it works.

On top of that, the game costs the same amount as a coffee. It's super fun, and often hilarious at times. I highly recommend. I hope the team stays on this.

While the game is visually breathtaking, and the gameplay is much more refined, I'm sorry to say I can't recommend this game at it's current state. With that being said, I still have high hopes for the future. The performance at launch is absolutely terrible, I'm constantly dipping below 30 FPS even on the lowest of settings. I have a pretty beefy rig that should be able to play the game no problem, but with these performance issues I would classify this as nearly unplayable without severely hindering the visual fidelity. I'm hoping to come back a couple months down the line and see these issues worked out. As for now, I'd say wait for some patches.
