TLDR - Despite a rocky start, a solid foundation to the game with a very satisfying gameplay loop and lots of potential for its future.

Wayfinder had a very rocky start to its release, with major server issues, hours long queues, disconnects and assorted errors that would crash you out and back to the queue. Fortunately the dev team has worked relentlessly, pushing daily updates and constantly keeping the community informed of their progress, and a little over a week later most of the issues are resolved, the queues are gone and very few connection and stability issues still persist.

So with all that said, what about the game itself? Wayfinder has a very satisfying gameplay loop in which you primarily run through randomly generated levels killing enemies and collecting items in order to craft new weapons and summon new Wayfinders, and collect Echoes and Accessories to support and upgrade them. It also offers an open world area that contains a couple of world bosses, and boss levels which for the most part are very well designed and enjoyable to run over and over again, although the last currently available boss fight is in a slightly rough state at present and requires some further tuning to make it less frustrating.

The game currently feels slightly more balanced towards ranged gameplay, with some elements of melee feeling rather punishing, especially in early game, however as you progress your Wayfinders and get better geared up you will find that you can easily overcome those issues and often can out damage the enemy, as the game seems to be based on the theory of the best defence being good offence.

One of the few criticisms that i do have currently is that the game unfortunately features a FOMO store for their cosmetics, with a limited number of available items at any given time with an expiry timer, something that i really hope they will reconsider in the future.

The UI also feels primarily designed for consoles with PC as an afterthought. There are several frustrating elements such as most things requiring that you hold keys to confirm an input, or needing to press hotkeys to scroll through selection options or sorting in menus such as the echo and accessory screens rather than just being able to click on the options you are after, or directly select from a dropdown, and the game never remembers the last sort option selected and resets to default every time, something that i hope will be improved for PC in the future.

despite those last couple of criticisms, overall, if you enjoy collector/grind games, then this is one you will not want to miss out on. The foundations are very solid, the planned update schedule looks to be frequent, and the roadmap for future content and features looks incredibly promising and interesting.

Warframe is a game that has consumed thousands of hours of my time, and i don't regret a moment of it. Constantly updated and improved, regular events, new frames and weapons added every couple of weeks, and you get to be a space ninja on top of all that.

Do you like to have fun? then play this. I would recommend the game to anyone.

Even as a very early alpha release with just 2 cars, 2 tracks and 1 arena, "Next Car Game" already feels more fun and plays better than the last game that tried to atempt this style of gameplay, DIRT Showdown.

In fact from the small look into what Bugbear Interactive have done so far, and looking at what they have planned for the future I really believe that this game has the potential to finally become a modern day version of one of my favourite games of all time, from all the way back in 1997, on the original Playstation - "Destruction Derby 2".
