Different from what I usually play, but remarkably fun nevertheless. I won't go into too much detail about the actual mechanics, as I'm sure plenty of reviews already do that way better than I could with only 25 hours in the game. So something I'd like to comment on instead is the matchmaking system.

Coming from Fortnite, where as you improve the game starts putting you against nastier and nastier opponents until your games are anything but fun, this game's matchmaking is incredibly well thought-out. If you go into lobbies guns blazing, looking for kills, then you'll tend to run into other aggressive players, so you get to enjoy the game's combat systems. Conversely, if you go into lobbies trying to live and let live so everyone can loot as much as they can, you'll tend to run into lots of other players who are (mostly) trustworthy and really chill. Unlike Fortnite, where matchmaking seems designed to minimize the amount of fun you get to have, this game is the exact opposite. You'll tend to find players similar to the way you play, so you can engage with the game however you like and the game will learn and steer your matchmaking appropriately.

There's a very good reason everyone is praising this game. It's expensive, I know, but it's well worth it. Give it a try.

Katawa Shoujo is nothing short of spectacular. Easily the best visual novel, and more than likely also the best romance story, that I've ever had the absolute pleasure of reading. It's simply a miracle that it's free. Try it. Right now.

Rise was my first Monster Hunter game, so I can't speak to the new features from previous games. But I can confidently say that you'll enjoy this game immensely if you like flashy combat, spectacular OSTs, and, my personal favourite, remarkably robust character and outfit customization systems. This game is insanely fun, endlessly replayable, and beyond worth any price they could charge for it.

10/10. An absolute masterpiece of a game.

My game refused to start, giving me an error message every time I tried to launch it. I emailed the devs, and they promptly helped me identify the file that was causing the problem and sent me a new one so my game would work properly. The sort of customer support that ubisoft couldn't ever even conceive of matching.

Now, onto the actual game.

The gameplay is phenomenal. It's exactly like any other Touhou game, except with far more beautiful graphics and, in my opinion, better patterns. While the official Touhou games have a lot of spellcards (and pre-boss stage sections, especially) that you have to memorize a technique or route for in order to survive, this game feels so much more bullethell-like. Patterns require skillful dodging, not memorization or routing, to become consistent at. Perhaps as a partial result of that, the game feels slightly easy, but not in a bad way. Easier because the patterns are, for lack of a better word, fairer. Not easy because it isn't able to provide a challenge. It's also probably worth mentioning that if there are any spellcards you struggle with, this game does have spellcard practice that's functionally identical to what's offered in Touhou 8, 13, 14, 17, and 18)

Something else I'd like to touch on, though I know it's a small thing, is that the phantasm stage in this game is far better designed than in the official Touhou 7. It's completely unique in every way, whereas in PCB the phantasm stage was essentially a slightly harder version of the extra stage. In FDF II it's a completely different stage, with completely unique patterns and completely different music (rather than the phantasm stage's music from PCB, which is basically a remix of the extra stage's.)

Speaking of music, as one of the most important aspects of any good Touhou game, it's super important for a fan-game to get right in order to truly feel like it fits into the series nicely. I wasn't a fan of the first FDF game's music, but this game's feels like a return to the root of what Touhou music is. As someone who doesn't know the first thing about music theory, or what it is about the official games' soundtracks that makes them so amazing, I can't properly describe what exactly it is that makes this game's so good. But what I can tell you is that I couldn't be happier with it.

My one and only gripe with the game is the translation, which honestly leaves much to be desired. The characters' dialogue, stage names, and even the achievements, are all in pretty broken English. I mean, just look as some of the achievements:

Firm Determination:
Collect the spell card "Seduction'Wandering Utsusemi'" of Yuyuko without hurts

Fearless Storm:
No moving for 5 seconds when number of danmaku exceeds 800

Those are word-for-word, character-for-character. Including the missing space in the first one, and the missing "the" in the second. A perfect translation isn't necessary to enjoy the game, or even to get the gist of the plot for the most part, but some proofreading by a native English speaker would've gone a long way. But realistically, this is a small thing. The gameplay matters significantly more, and the gameplay is perfect as far as I'm concerned.

All in all, if you like the official Touhou games you'll love this one just as much, if not more. I promise it's well worth the money.

Works very well. Starts up quickly and rarely crashes. Sometimes affects my frame-rate on games, but that's just cause I use two monitors at 144hz (so it's always in focus, and frame drops are significantly more noticeable).

Terraria is a masterpiece of a game. A game into which the devs poured tons of love and consideration to craft a balanced, well-paced, exciting adventure for players of all kinds. I often hear the comparison that it's very similar to a 2D version of Minecraft — this could not be further from the truth. Music, monsters, progression, items, biomes, NPCs, everything about Terraria completely blows Minecraft out of the water. And I say this not to bash Minecraft, but to emphasize just how brilliant Terraria is in comparison. I would wholeheartedly recommend this game to just about anyone. It's easy to pick up, thoroughly enjoyable, it has tons of replayability, and it's definitely worth a lot more than pretty much anything else you could buy for $10.99 CAD.

Great game. The community is fairly good as well, and there are plenty of active players so you'll most likely never have to worry about waiting for a long time before games. I don't have the coven expansion, so I can't speak much about that, but I can say with confidence that the standard game is pretty great.

After 40 hours of playing the game, I've randomly lost access to it — a problem on Ubisoft's end prevents me from launching the game due to a "problem authenticating ownership" of the product I paid over $60 for. Ubisoft support was of little help and Steam won't refund it, so it's $60+ for a game that I cannot play.

The game itself was alright but considering this issue I can't say I got my money's worth. And now, with me being unable to play it, it looks like I never will.

I don't know how likely it is that this issue will happen to you if you decide to buy R6 but I encourage you to consider the risks when you decide to buy this game (or any others from Ubisoft).

Update: It's been 5 months and I am still unable to play it. Seriously, this is just outrageous. I wouldn't recommend buying games from Ubisoft.

Update: It's been more than a year. This is just stupid.

Really great practice client! Adds a substantial amount of customizability to the game that can make things like learning a higher AR or OD much easier. Updates are infrequent, but most of what needs to be there is already there, so there's no reason not to give it a try!

Overall, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a really great game. The graphics are great, it runs well on a very wide variety of different PCs, and the gameplay is balanced, enjoyable, and realistic.

From time to time, the community can be rather toxic. The occasional game will be filled with hackers or people who are throwing the match, however the game itself is very well-made, and the actual amount of toxic players in the community is quite low. There are at least as many, if not more, players that give the game a good atmosphere, than there are hackers; from my experience, at least.

The game is very balanced, with relatively frequent changes being added (when necessary) to keep things fair. From time to time a really broken weapon is added, but such cases are typically solved within a few days max, with few exceptions. If you choose to play the game competitively, you'll even be given a skill-group of sorts, so as to ensure you're playing with or against players from around your level, making the game much more fair and welcoming to newer players.

All in all, I would definitely recommend CS:GO to anyone who enjoys fast-paced first-person shooter games. The graphics are great, and the physics are accurate, but not to the point of making the game unplayable for low-end computers. The community is great to some people, and bad to others, but regardless, there's a place in the game and community for really competitive players and casual newbies alike. Hackers are occasionally present in matches, but are usually dealt with quite quickly. 8.5/10, would recommend.
