This is a 10/10 game but I can't bring myself to recommend it. Gorgeous artwork and deep lore is gatekept behind a difficulty model that is unforgiving.

As someone that played through Hollow Knight, Silksong is a different beast. The theory crafting of the predecessor allowed unique strategies to approach fights that this game lacks. The gameplay is much quicker and significantly more satisfying but the damage model accompanying it is brutal.

I 2/3s into Act 3, I'm no slouch but I can't get gud'r. The Coral Tower took me hours to et through, Nyleth was easy, and Karmelita is my skill plateau. The fact that so many great bosses are hidden deep behind lengthy parkour like First Sinner can turn away a lot of players. For the price point, I can see why this game is selling so well with the accompanying hype train. I told my partner that she would love this game's art and the characters but she wouldn't be able to play this game, I told her I couldn't recommend it to her so I can't in good faith recommend this to the masses.

Not the fighting game that I like in the slightest. Guilty Gear Strive is insanely better. Footsies is for losers

I would totally recommend this game. Until you hit 10th floor. Don't shoot for celestial because the challenge is brain dead simple but it demands way too much. Best music in any fighting game, period. Best designs for the characters that I've seen. Not a lot of characters but that is a good thing. It feels like every character is hyper focused to what they can do.
