Seems there are 2 types of people who play this game:

1.
They understand the concept, enjoy the concept, and say they are surprised how good and how deep the games goes for the price. Enjoy it a ton and love every bit of it.

2.
These people are a little mentally crippled. Don't seem to understand anything, complain about nothing and blame the game for their ineptness and shoe size IQ.

This right here is how you know its a straight banger. I bought the game specifically because I saw 4 separate reviews saying "UHHHHH... I HAVE NO IDEA WTF THIS IS?!?! DUMB, STUPID, CRAP, REFUNDED FR FR ONG". Typically when you see these foam helmet wearing comments its an indicator that the game or whatever medium you're enjoying has some thought put into it and isnt just cocomelon colors and hold W to win. This is why it scares the Jezebels.

Use this going forward when you're on the fence with a game. If you see a lot of "WOW! This has amazing depth and is a great use of your time!" juxtaposed with "MANE I DON UNNASTAND ANYTHING. FR FR WHAT DIS BE?" (Sorry i cannot accurately recreate the comments to their full glory. Feel free to sort by negative and you'll see what I am talking about instantly.)

I saw the same type of comments on Shapez 2, Factorio, MetroCity, and a lot more. All were 10/10 purchases.

Use this one simple trick to go far lol. Im kidding, but only slightly. I really do buy games based off this and it has never let me down in 20ish years.

I started playing before going to bed to see what the game is and how it plays. Was legitimately stunned at the amazing detail in everything, how "in theme" the entire game is, the soundtrack is FIRE already and loved the animations/color/CRT lifestyle. Not to mention I was so enamored that I came here to write this which is something I reserve for completion usually. I will update later on after i complete the game.

Its so amazing that I cant wait to play again tomorrow and im trying to force myself to sleep afte this because all I want to do is play with some Stonks.

Do you like Anime honkers, card games, cocaine, poker, blackjack, and being the "Wolf of Tokyo"?

Ditto.

buy this.

Crack: The video game. 9/10[/h3]

PROS:

- Vampire Survivors in Dungeon Crawler Mode. I didnt think it would work... it works VERY VERY well!
- Graphics are charming and well done.
- Works perfectly on Linux. Quite a bit better than windows from my testing.
- Music is a banger. I usually shut the music off on most of these games but this is turned UP.
- Fast games. Usually 10-20 mins per run. Awesome!
- Tons of unique synergies
- Awesome evolutions that use the previous games setups. For instance Garlic + Heart. Works in both versions. Sorry if you find that to be a spoiler.
- Jim Sterling is gone!!! Im an part of the moniker. He is a notorious grifter and horrid person all around. Been at the center of a lot of drama over the years and has all but been ousted from the community as a whole. Just a horrid person in general. As soon as i saw he was no longer involved I bough the game.

CONS:

- Game is VERY easy. I have yet to lose a single run and im getting builds such as +600% damage, +700% duration, +650% XP. Like just WILD builds. I had a build that every turn i was getting 20-30 mana and I JUST started. (Get armor and GGEZ Clap. Congrats on your W.)
- Jimothy Sterlingus' skidmarks are still in the game. I did laugh VERY hard when i heard Geovannas voice though. If that wasnt done on purpose as a jab that is even more hilarious. Thank you for that.
- The crawling is kinda annoying. Specifically the having to turn like tank controls when moving. I have found it easier to just stare at the minimap and use it to navigate around since there doesnt seem to be negative consequences for doing so that I have found.
- Achievements are way too easy to get. I did 1 run and got 17 achievements... lol. Im sure that will change as i get deeper into the game but yeah... If i kept playing im sure I would have beaten the game in one sitting which is why I decided to take a break for a day or two.

CONCLUSION:

Fantastic game. I was one of the first people to post a red death kill in the original game. I had a 48 hour long run time I posted to reddit but it has since been removed due to reddits insanity. (Reddit is a horrid place filled with very... "simple"... people caught in an echo-chamber. I will see if i can find my original play-through on my old YT account and can upload it somewhere in the community area.) Enough about that hellscape.

All that to say, I loved that game until Jim "Worlds #1 Skidmark" Sterling got involved in the game. I dropped it then and there and refused to play anymore of Poncles games until he was gone. Yes his stain is in VCrawlers but removing those characters would cause more issues than doing what they did, which was making the characters he touched be basically useless in comparison to everyone else and the voice. That voice cracked my best friend and I up when we heard it. Nicely done. Dunno if that was on purpose but if it wasnt as stated prior, thats even funnier.

This reinvigorated my love of roguelikes and dungeon crawlers and sent me down a path of finding a ton of indie crawlers and buying those to play after I beat this.

I am extremely excited about what is to come next from Poncle. They are a master at these "Braindead Clickers". I mean no ill will with that statement. I have heard this said by lots of people and they mean it doesnt require you to get a full guide out to play as something like Persona 5 Royal would. Its just an easy pop-in pop-out kinda game and that has its place in the ecosystem as well.

Amazing game and cannot wait to play another run!

It certainly was one of the games of all time. If you like this kind of game you will love it.

If you dont... well... its not really something thats going to spur your love of the genre into action by any means. Its fun, but its definitely not easy. It feels like you spend 100 hours learning how to have 30 minutes of fun.

Not for me, but still going to recommend it because its amazing for the style of game it is.

I much prefer things along the lines of Path of Achra, Rift Wizard, Tales of Maj Eyal etc.

This is... too much for me.

I mean... Its basically AIM with extra steps.

Since we lost the glory days of AIM, now you can be pestered by degenerate lunatics in VR!

At least that has always been my experience. The second you drop in its "Wanna get freaky?! *emoji winky face/emoji tongue out face with eggplants/same sentence but spelled like its the first time they have seen the english language*

Its painful. Still recommend because even if you only play once, youll get to experience how 2006 internet was. Especially the incredibly loud and blown out audio with the biggie teezmos screeching like they were just born into this world.

Telling you. Its an experience to say the least. Its also filled with the weirdest degenerates I have ever seen. And they are VERY open about this.

2.7/44.

Also could probably use a few Chris Hansons in here. Get used to that report button cause you're gonna need to use it a LOT.

Incredible. 10/10

I dont want to say too much here because its a very fun game and you should absolutely try it out.

Its a love letter to boomer shooters. Has that Build Engine feel in a 3D environment. Not only that, but it is LOADED with references to Blood, Hexen, Doom, etc.

The gunplay is amazing, the animations are god tier, and the story is incredibly fun.

Seriously, give it a shot if you're on the fence. You have 2 hours to refund if you dont like it.

This game is what we needed after the "boomer shooter" revolution that New Blood caused after DUSK. This is the natural evolution of that. They remind me of Studio MDHR and definitely deserve all the praise they're getting now.

I love this and cannot wait for the (confirmed) DLC thats dropping later this year.

I dont give 10/10s easy, but this absolutely deserves it.

Game works perfectly out of the box on linux btw. Steamdeck, Wayland/Arch/Hyprland, etc. Most games do now, but putting this here in case someones looking for it. Most games work better on linux now than they do on windows. Its crazy. Ive been using linux exclusively now for 7 years and since 2022 Linux has outperformed win10/11 with ease.

EndeavourOS + Hyprland will make you enjoy using a computer again. but thats not what this review is for.

Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Alright, back to the game.

My lord this game is fun.

I played this back in 2019? I think? It did NOT leave a good impression at all. I hated it tbqh.

I saw it on sale, forgot that I had played it prior until after I bought it and didnt like it. Decided to give it another shot an OH BOY AM I GLAD I DID.

This games crack. Straight "Heroin Hero 2: Chasing the Dragon Edition".

Highly Recommend this game. Especially right now while its on sale.

Its basically micro Command and Conquer + Mechs.

You cant go wrong. The Isometric view can get kinda wonky sometimes. But its fantastic past that. I also have low time because I play offline so my husband can use my steam family account to play with me.

9/10. Play it, its great.

One of the best point and clicks ever made. 9/10

Its Harvester. You cant really go wrong here. Its a fantastic Point and Click remastered by Night Dive and it encapsulates the weird 90s stuff we had going on back then.

Do yourself a large favor.
DO NOT LOOK INTO THE GAME AT ALL!!
it is absolutely worth going in totally blind for.

Trust me on this one.

Just Play It/10

Its pretty Big Wet. Approaching moisture even.

You play as a king. He has Zero Stress.

Click sh!t and watch things die.

The end.

Just leave it open on your other monitor while you do other things. I leave it on while im playing games and mess with it in between rounds. Been great for cooling down between SF6 matches.

Short, gets to the point, and if you have played these you know what to expect.

8/10. Would be 10/10 if it was longer and there was a little more to do. But its a fun time killer for 4 bucks.

It's Finally Here, and its REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!! Score and TLDR at the bottom!

Slay the Spire 1 is my favorite game. If i was stuck on an island and forced to play one video game for the rest of eternity, it would be Slay the Spire. I was quite nervous about the game due to hyping it up for almost 8 years now and almost 10 from release.

It lives up to the hype and it feels like they took every QoL mod people made for StS1 and really polished it out. Pro's and Con's below, but man... This is 100% a GOTY for me!

Works perfectly on Arch/Linux which is amazing to see. No tweaking needed out of the box at all. Load > Run. Perfection.

Thank you Mega Crit. Cancelling all plans for a few days. They can wait. Alright onto the review!

PROS:
  • Major graphical improvements from the last one. All while keeping the charm that STS1 had. Simply Perfection.
  • QoL updates to nearly everything. The map, the protags, the movements of the characters, the shop, the spire itself. Just so many amazing updates that came from the community, added to the game. Personal favorite having the map marker built in. Just... man they cooked.
  • As of this writing I have unlocked all characters and played with them on at least 2 runs a piece. They took all the recommendations of the community and twisted them into their own vision. They NAILED this. Minor spoiler ahead: The silent got a new skill, "SLY". This skill will cast any card thats been discarded that round. Synergizing with a lot of her cards including "Survivor" which is a base card. This made her go from the hardest character to play in STS1 to an incredible monster in 2.
  • Lets be for real, the price. 25 bucks for this level of replayability and polish in an EA title? Please, take my money.
  • MULTIPLAYER!!! Very fun but overly hard. Needs to be balanced ESPECIALLY for Co-Op. Mods can help for now, but official would be ideal if at all possible.
  • No Political BS. No woke BS, no MAGA BS, no Israel/Iran/Gaza/CURRENT TOPIC BS, just pure fun made by a team who clearly has passion for their project. Gay dude here tired of everything having the same forced topics and pandering. Its old and not helping anyone.
  • Menu/UI design is incredible. Outside of the Lobby the new style is sharp. In STS1 things looked good but kind of all over the place thematically imo. The top bar always looked like a green bar with a bunch of PNG's kinda stuck onto it. Worked... serviceable, but never really cohesive. Now the entire UI across the game looks polished and well thought out while retaining the originals setup/layout/purpose.
  • This Spire seems harder than the OG one by quite a large margin. Im here for it. Seems like we got powered up alongside the spire! The balance feels "right" to me. Challenging but not so insane that the challenge becomes tedious or tiresome.
  • PIck up and Put down style of game. You can easily play for 5 mins between doing something else, or sit and play for 20 hours straight. I love these kind of games personally.
  • Works perfectly on Linux!!! Thank you MegaCrit! Worked right out of the box, no tweaking needed at all!

CONS:
  • Cannot bind keys to the mouse. I really dont know why this is a thing but it is. I had to use my 3rd side mouse button and set it to K to end set the end turn button to my mouse. Very irritating. I wanrt to be able to use Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 to bind keys to so my entire gameplay experience is held there. Cant, unless I change the mouse keys themselves.
  • Multiplayer lobby is a little undercooked rn. Serviceable, but could be reworked to be clearer and easier. Or just drop in/drop out. The game is quite literally 1 day old so do not hold this against them. MP in games like this is insanely hard to pull off. Im surprised they were able to ngl!

TL;DR:

RATING: 9.5/10

Slay The Spire II is absolutely worth the wait. I am having insane amounts of fun right out of the gate. For an "Early Access" game this sure is extremely polished. THIS, THIS RIGHT HERE is how EA should be. Very well optimized to boot. (works on my main rig and my laptop with iGPU. Also Arch/Hypr) STS has been my favorite game since the original launched. This is more of the same but upgraded in every possible way. Reminds me a lot of what Monster Train 2 did. [[ Another fantastic Deckbuilding Roguelike if you havent tried it. Get Monster Train 2 if you haven't played either! Trust me on this. ;D ]]

There is so much content here to explore it seems. Everything has purpose, time has clearly been put into details, and the overall pace of the game has improved so much from the original. It feels like my modded Slay the Spire 1 experience out of the box. Its incredible to me how much Mega Crit listened to their audience. Rare these days for sure. They made a game for their StS1 fans that can be enjoyed by anyone new or returning. I sincerely hope to get to this level of polish and quality with my own games.

Thanks for reading and thank you Mega Crit! I will be bugtesting and reporting all I find!

Alright, back to the spire.
