When you first look at Sonic all stars racing transformed, it seems like nothing more than a generic kart racer staring sonic. However if you dig deep enough you'll find a much more complex racing system than in most other racing game. First of all in addition to the karts you also have access to boats and planes for all characters. This is where the games design shines as often you'll get multiple options of where to go, one where you take the high road in the skies and the other plodding on the ground or in a boat. Another nice thing is the items which are only there to spice the game up rather than giving sucky players an unfair advantage. Even the all star move is balanced in a way that it only really helps if you know how to use it. The game looks amazing when running at max settings though I've noticed some significant issues with fps even when at minimal settings(Though this may just be my computer. The game does have it's flaws, characters aren't varried that much especially since all star moves are so much more bland compared to the first game, and the leveling up system is dull and tedious beyond words. Also I highly reccomend you play this using a controller only as playing with the mouse and keyboard sucks so much its not even worth trying. But this is the definitive version of All stars transformed as it has additional characters with more promised while the console ports are left in the dust. And since this game has gone on sale a couple of times since it's release there's little excuse not to pick it up.
