A great indie horror game with unique old-school combat that wears its inspirations on its sleeve and feels like a professionally developed game despite being made by a sole developer. The dev's wife did the 2D art, and a couple of voice actors round out the four total people listed in the end credits.

Definitely worth the time!

This game rules; buy it now! We need more niche games like this!

Every minute in I've spent in-game so far OOZES with a unique kind of passion that only true hobbyists can tap into. I have no doubt that at least one person on the dev team, if not more, has a longstanding fascination with the Showa era and Showa-adjacent pop culture, and that fascination bleeds through the pores of this game in the best possible ways.

The game reminds me of a cult classic PS2 adventure game called Chulip in a lot of ways, and that's high praise coming from me. Memorable residents, helping the townsfolk of a rural town, non-linear exploration and overall being so genuinely bizarre that all you can do is keep playing to see what kind of crazy ♥♥♥♥ you'll stumble onto next.

I doubt Promise Mascot Agency will sell as well as Paradise Killer did, but I hope Kaizen Game Works keeps making niche titles like this between their bigger, more profitable releases anyways. Their unorthodox approach of letting players stumble upon narrative elements/beats/gameplay mechanics at their own pace through freedom of exploration is so refreshingly different from anything I've played modernly, and that combined with their passion for the material they've created has won me over yet again.
