Remnant is like a mix of cherry picked parts from the division and dark souls. It puts a bit of spin on it by introducing randomness on the appearance of events/bosses. Your campaign structure isn't going to be the same as someone else's campaign.

I recommend. It's got great art direction, interesting set pieces, and good gear system.

I have to warn though, the game is heavily built for multiplayer, it's definitely doable solo but some bosses are huge bs machines that becomes tedious instead of difficult. So grab a friend or two before jumping in.

A perfect mix of relaxing environment and challenging puzzles but even when you're wracking your brain for the solution the game instills a calming vibe. Just perfect.

A good game that utilizes its episodic nature really well, the storytelling is fantastic and hooks you in fast. A good story + a good cast of characters made this experience enjoyable. Couldn't recommend enough.

It's pretty interesting. I like the shooting and mobility, unfortunately my specs aren't good enought to run the game with stability. Will definitely try with cloud gaming.

Dragon Age The Veilguard is a good game on its own, but is a complete disservice to the Dragon Age franchise. It suffers the same shortcomings that Andromeda had, it didn't know what to do after clearing the slate. The writing is too safe and the dialogue quality is inconsistent, there are moments that make you go "oh wow, now this is the dragon age I know" and the other times it simply makes you scratch your head.

There are returning characters from previous games but they don't feel or act like the specific character they were in your playthroughs. Inquisition is boiled down to 3 choices (only trespasser) even the inquisitor feels tacked on, they show up give some generic motivational "you can do this, I believe in you" speech and ♥♥♥♥♥ off for the rest of the game, you'd think the inquisitor would have a bigger part as the team's advisor or something, considering the events of trespasser but nope, gratuitous cameos are all we get.

I understand that the game takes place in the north and is the main reason why choices from origins and 2 aren't included but even flavor text would've been enough, at the least, the world should feel like the same thedas you played on years ago.

Time to do one of those bullet point things.
+positive
-negative

+ combat: completely overhauled, it flows a lot better and feels better for all the different classes. It's no elden ring but it's no joke on higher difficulties.

- tactics: companion tactics are removed, they won't do anything unless ordered to do so. Even with good gear their attack damage is negligible. Companions have no health so the threat implementation is a bit wonky in this game, majority of the enemies will focus solely on you (unless you brought a member with taunt) which could get annoying when your death is not because you suck but because of utter bs.

+ exploration: back to good ol' set pieces, no more open world padding.

+- dialogue: like I said earlier, its lows are lows and the highs are highs. You simply don't know which one you'll get.

+- romance: the dialogue is actually written well, it feels natural and you can see the chemistry between the characters. The negative? the content is spread too thin, just when you thought enough time has passed for the route to have progressed, there is simply nothing.

+ animations: I personally liked seeing the "bioware" animations throughout mass effect and dragon age, it's endearing in a way, but this game has done away with that animation library, a lot of the cinematics look really good, it shines a lot on the very few romance interactions with how well the facial expressions and body language is done. Main story cutscenes also take the spotlight (I mean duh, I sure hope so).

+ pacing: the story doesn't feel too short or too long, it knows what it wants to present before ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ off and leaving you with some side quests. I do have to say the ending was a little too quick for my taste.

- factions: only three of the factions really have any big involvement on the story, the amount of content varies from faction to faction. This would have been the perfect time to go back to the prologues that origins had. Early in the story, Varric will mention an event that made them recruit your character, the way it's described its pretty much the perfect length for a single mission, would've been the perfect "show, not tell".

- story: good enough I guess but "good enough" shouldn't be what it is after 10 years.

This isn't the full review just yet, I forgot some points I wanted to go over, will update at a later date.

I recommend for newer players that just wants a solid game with good mechanics. For any old players out there, you'd probably enjoy it still but it definitely could've been better. I enjoyed my time, still enjoy it really, but I wanted a lot more from it.

It's real fun even with the few hours of gameplay I've had. I spent a lot of it clearing out stone and trees.
