In a lot of ways I'd say this embodies the soulslike genre best imo. Personally not a fan of levelling up and whilst this does have scaling it's opinionated and tied to the story which keeps the game perfectly balanced, every mandatory enemy is beatable at the point you must face it to progress the story. If this is your first soulslike I'd suggest playing dark souls 1 first but it's not critical. In other soulslikes you can grind more levels and get past almost any enemy, where as in this game you NEED to get good. When I first beat Madam Butterfly it was absurdly satisfying. Some parts are definitely too cryptic so if you're stuck on a how to progress the story don't feel too bad if you resort to google.

Early Access Review
I tweaked the settings to reduce grid and installed a few mods for QoL and grind avoidance reasons. Really good game after that, haven't been as addicted to a game as this since BotW first released. Nice game play loop of catching Pals and building things with your new tech tree unlocks from it. Pals are cute and I'm impressed by the sheer amount of animations. Lots of interesting "builds" to try. I haven't even touched a lot of the game (breeding, legendaries, only have 2/5 towers) and I'm 52 hours in.

It's not hard and it's not perfect but money extremely well spent even if they never release another update (which is unlikely!)

Even if you only get 20 hours good fun out of it and never touch it again that's good value for money, and you should get more as there are regular updates with spicy new content that freshen up the game as we know it.

Once you figure out how to win (won't spoil) you can challenge yourself with various different settings and maps and challenges.

Right now it is a little stale for me whilst I wait for the next update, but it dragged me away from Elden Ring for 5 days straight so you know it's good.

Not as hard or frustrating as people say, even though servers are down atm (which makes it harder bc no online co-op for bosses). Extremely fun game, if you feel too weak to take on a zone you're probably in the wrong zone and can go somewhere better first but just don't realise it yet. I quit once years ago right after the tutorial because I went a hard way instead of the "right" way, not realising I had a choice. Try and keep googling to a minimum but sometimes it's more fun than getting stuck.

Easy to learn, hard to master, lots of simple rules compile for huge depth. Many viable decks and lots to learn.

This game is great fun and you can replay it many times and still enjoy it. I normally hate fetch quests and going to way point markers, so why is a game that's 90% of those, usually at the same time, so damn good? I don't know! I think the overwhelming amount of points for success, and how you need to get lots of points to get strong enough to really play the game, actually gives you stakes, and those stakes make the game fun.

The VR conversion is pretty good! Other than that it is just regular FO4. Bit steep to charge full price even to those who already had FO4, but I guess it's hard being a AAA VR front runner.

It's a bit of a pain configuring things, but if there's something you don't like, odds are you can fix it with a google search and 20 minutes of your time. For me, I wanted hand aimed VATS, slow-mo gunslinging with high luck is fun, which I was able to do via said google search.

Good fun, not as pervy as it really should be (thank microsoft for heavily censoring the first game I guess). Also for some reason it has none of the story mode stuff GalGun 2 has, not sure why.
