I genuinely can't remember the last time I had so much fun in a PvE MMO. Project Gorgon does everything right that a lot of the "hardcore, oldschool" MMOs seem to mess up. It respects your time, encourages exploration and grouping but all in ways that don't boil down to just making something tedious and take forever.

The game actively wants you to go out there and explore the world, you died? Here, have some XP in Dying because you died a new way, you get automatically respawned nearby and just try again. Want a more hardcore experience? You can select different tiers of harder death penalties in the first town.

Switching between the different skills and trying out new combinations is effortlessly easy and also encourages veterans to team with newer players as they are leveling new skills. The random item drops are exciting and meaningful and I cant wait to unlock the other ways to tinker with and reroll equipment or properly get into crafting.

I quickly actively resisted looking every location up in a wiki and instead just asked the people around me, everyone in the community has been nothing but helpful so far.

Will this be my main MMO of choice forever? Probably not, but I can absolutely see it as something to return to in-between other games as a breath of fresh air.

Difficulty spike from Difficulty 2 to 3 is so ridiculous that you loose most games before you get to even make any real decisions about the build you want to play.

Devs abandoned their plans and work for a singleplayer, strategic campaign mode completely with a vague statement without much reasoning.

Unless you want to get into it as a tactical PvP arena game - do not buy.

Multiplayer doesn't work.
Can't connect to servers with more than 30 people, get kicked on those that I can join after about 30 seconds.
Editor is a shell of it's former self that we are used to, so once again, the community has to fix everything to make this remotely playable as anything else than a non-functioning, paid demo.

Do not buy. Wait for improvements. Complain about it.
Actual scam currently.

Development stopped, was a barely playable tech demo at best, buggy mess that wont even launch at worst. Do not buy under any circumstance, put the developer on your personal watch list and never buy any products they are associated with.

The community that followed this game got actively gaslight, decieved and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over for their money by the team.

Was at its most fun when it was still an arena based naval simulation.

Open World is a complete joke as people can buy "DLC Ships" that they can redeem once a day at no cost, thus making the whole economy a complete and utter waste. Do not give money to this company.

I haven't played for years, but feel free to read some of the more recent reviews about what game-breaking changes were implemented because the developer is too incompetent to balance the game in any meaningful way.

I wish I could actually play the game to review it in it's current state. However, it seems the devs have used their finished product as some form of beta test to bugfix their game - every 2 or 3 days they release a "hotfix" update that is 5.6GB in size, in my case a 3-4h download because I have crappy internet. That means I can't even play the game half the time I come home because it would have to update for over 3 hours.

DO NOT BUY IN IT'S CURRENT STATE IF YOU HAVE BAD INTERNET

♥♥♥♥♥♥ mod policy by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ company that can't fix hackers and cheats online - but wants it gone because they want their microtransactions going to make EVEN MORE MONEY OF ONE OF THE TOP 5 GAMES IN COPIES SOLD EVER.

G ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ G!
