OFF has been something I've deeply loved since I found out about it through Markiplier, sometime around Undertale's release I think? Initially I didn't think much of it, the community being so small and theorising everything was so fascinating to me. I loved how strange and surreal the world was, and the remake delivered.

It will always be a shame that ACC didn't return, but in my personal opinion? The team did an outstanding job. I think the only song I outright think was a plain downgrade was Stay In Your Sweet Coma. The original was just irreplaceable, and trying to mimic its style didn't work out. Every other song I love either equally or more than the original tracks. I hope one day some musicians mashup the two OSTs; I think it'd make a super unique sound.

Though the community has gotten a bit split and torn over this game - which I'm really disappointed to say may push people away - it shouldn't be the thing that keeps you from trying this outstanding classic. Don't listen to others saying "the original is better", "the music is ruined", "the new content sucks", or whatever. Hear what was loved about the original, because it stands true and shines even brighter than ever.

I hope the community manages to calm down at some point, and look at the game with the same lenses they did when dissecting the original. It's what got me to love this game, it's what can get others to as well.

Admittedly went into this not entirely sure what I was going to get out of it. I heard of it from Windette and was like "sure, I'll check out the demo". I was immediately hooked. The combat wasn't boring, and tested not only my reactions but also my strategy skills when it came to deciding what skills to upgrade and (spoilers for like mid-way into the game) which of the two characters to use for a specific attack or encounter, seeing as Orange could dodge and block with little risk but the reward is much higher with Blue.

Even though I wasn't entirely sure at times what was going on in the story, the visual storytelling was absolutely stellar and helped me understand "woah wait is that what's going on?" and sure enough, it was. There's all these little hints in the background, the UI, little touches that just really sing and make you go "was that there the whole time?" I never thought a game with virtually no dialogue would have such compelling characters that I want to know more about. I want to see more from the Worldless world (I'm not sure if thats an oxymoron or not) and from the beings that inhabit it.

If I had a complaint, it'd probably be trying to find half of the things you don't have yet, or at least a hint that it exists. Most upgrades that aren't tied to absorbing are very hole-in-the-wall like, and I'm sure those who like exploring every nook and cranny of the map will love that sort of thing. For me, though, I think that's a bit far for just a little bit more health or combat time. Similarly, it'd be nice if certain encounters gave a heads up about "yo, this enemy is like REALLY difficult. maybe come back later with a few more skills?" but maybe I'm just having a major skill issue and my stubbornness is convincing me I'm him.

Either way Worldless is bloody beautiful, and I HIGHLY recommend it. I wish there was more to say without spoiling, but everything about it is beautifully crafted.

[EDIT:]
Okay so one of my only complaints have been thrown out the window. Booting up the game again to start hunting more trophies, I realised that those collectables DO show up after a few prerequisites. It's likely you'll eventually figure it out eventually, but from what I can tell it is as follows: after activating the monoliths in each zone (the things with circles and diamond shaped markings on them? hard to miss, I think they're near each portal out to the Centre of the Universe) you see where all the missing upgrades are. I'm not sure if that IS the requirement, but it's when it started showing up for me. The thing about enemies being too strong is still something I stand by, but again not major since I may just be stubborn.

an absolutely great game. I don't normally enjoy deck builder type games, but Inscryption flipped that on it's head for me. I highly recommend playing this blind if you haven't already played it!

It's a great game considering how old it is. Stay away from the fandom for the most part, and try not to break the game with mods like I did..
