It is generally a great game, not outstanding in its mechanics, it can really boil down to a standard open world, however it shines in its enemies. every encounter you learn a little bit more about the enemy you face the armor plates to take off and which weak points to focus on. the enemies are diverse enough in their attacks that this just does not get old. this only goes for fighting the machines, the AI for humans is the same as any other open world game. Definitely more than enough content to warrant itself at full price though.

Easy to learn, hard to master. Great game over all. Cosmetics are a little on the expensive side. but hey they are just cosmetics. at least the game doesn't have loot boxes anymore.

Early Access Review
Pros:
* The single best balance between realistic milsim and arcade combat, just realistic enough to feel the pressure of dying and just arcadey enough to not punish you with endless walking/marching
* Still heavily supported by the developer updates
* Friendly community

Cons:
* I would not recommend to play this alone, join a clan, get somebody to teach you the ropes.
* Lacks a good tutorial which in turn causes veterans to get frustrated with newbies from time to time.
* Lacks optimization

Long review:
For the fans of the old PR(Project Reality mod) days comes Squad the spiritual stand alone successor.
It can be a little bit buggy from time to time, but then again what is'nt.
The developers still highly support the game with massive updates, however, in my opinion the updates have shifted from quality bug fixes and focusing on core gameplay. To adding more features and entice a more broad playerbase.
In the end though if you like to play a shooter focusing on realistic aspects but not compromising gameplay for realism aspects then Squad is the game for you.
So if you liked Project Reality, and teamwork based gameplay, this is a game for you

Hideo Kojima's last hoorah for the franchise and he blows it up in spectacular fashion, this is a franchise that holds up to its standards, and even if this one is narratively a little bit weaker then the others, the gameplay oooh the gameplay is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fantastic
