Still beta, but I got several characters to end game, Blows diablo 4 out of the water at least

At first, when the ball or car does crazy things it seems random, much later on you realize nothing is random at all.

Bind AirRoll AND PowerSlide to the same button and learn how to use them to go up a full rank

It's going to take a few hours to learn this one, but I had fun getting there. I watch a few youtuber videos on it for fun and entertainment as well as to learn.
Once it clicks for you, you can see the beauty and brain of your opponents strategy and gain great satisfaction countering or catching your opponents with their pants down.
Sure, you are just choosing units and positioning but there is a lot of nuance and strategy.

Charming, fun, and very hard.
The game has been abandoned, I feel it would have become much better after another year, but welp.

In order to keep up with the hostiles you had to take risks, any risk had a very good chance of wiping your run though.
Just knowing what and when to risk took most of my playtime to figure out so it never did work out for me.

I bought this in 2015 and didn't play it much (until now) and I find myself addicted.

I loved the first game and ended up gladly paying well over $100 for the base game and multiple expansions.
This is almost the same game but it's just as fun.
The developers are adding stuff to make it better slowly and polishing the game engine and experience.

You can have as much control or as little control as you like.
Once you learn the systems you can min max and nerd out to your hearts content, or hit full auto and watch the little ant colony you built go.

Give this game a shot!

It oozes a surreal vibe, great style, interesting combat and dialogue

It may take a bit to get it, but once it clicks it held my attention fully for a good long spell of fun. I am looking forward to trying this again asap.

I wish I had more characters unlocked to experiment with but I've pulled off some crazy runs on the brink of death.

Best star ocean yet, so far. You have to re-do the shaders from the title screen to get smooth performance. Movement and combat are decent. I hear the post game isn't as good, but so far the rest of the game goes smooth, movement is fast, combat is decent. I'm on the 2nd highest difficulty and I've only died maybe 3 times in 28 hours and that was more on party composition being weak towards an element.
I hope they expand the post game, I want to see some decent endless dungeons, but I can already see myself playing it twice for both stories.

I recommend this game

I've played since alpha and it keeps getting gradually improved. Sure there is a lot of randomness involved but that's what keeps the game fresh, no run is the same.

I never experienced bugs except in coop. The people I tried to coop with have worse computers and I blame that for any weirdness we experienced. Like if you are loading it off a HDD instead of your SSD and upscaling it to a 4k tv with settings high on a medium computer... It is a very demanding game if you crank the settings too high. I'd load the next area faster and have to wait a long time on the other people.
