I have not played such a fun, wonderfully balanced, and satisfying game in years.

Aesthetic:

Clean poly/pixel art, relaxing music, and some of the most satisfying sound design I've heard in years. The game has a relaxed non-aggressive feel sprinkled with moments of "OH, ****" as things are thrown at you that you didn't expect.

Gameplay:

There is a definitive sense of progress as each level adds new styles of mobs (many), new terrain challenges, new choose-able perks, and new strategies. Combat is both static (set your tower defense up ahead of time) and dynamic (move your character and your army around quick to cut off important choke points, defend your squishes, and counter specific units that are coming).

If you like messing with mechanics and mechanisms then you'll love this game. Before each match you can choose up to 5 perks to empower yourself (there are tons and many combos build off or conflict with each other) as well as an unlimited number of challenges you want to place against yourself. The game has specific combos for your quests but if you want to get the maximum score by the end of the match you're going to want to pile on challenges as they boost scores by %.

Repetitiveness:

The games really doesn't feel that repetitive as you are first going through and then replaying each world. The first time through feels easy, the next time through you'll likely try the games specific combos of perks/challenges as you fully finish each level, and then you're likely going to want to go back through again on a bunch of hardcore modes (and once you've earned every perk) in order to get crazy high scores.

So far during my little mini binge it's certainly stayed fun as you can truly choose from many varying strategies. It's really fun and interesting to try out-of-pocket strategies once you get some funky perks like allowing houses to be your towers, making your character some absurd glass cannon, and even choosing strange ways to approach your econ as there are many ways to earn resources.

Long-Term Play:

I think long term it seems like it will get boring unless they continue to add new levels/dynamics and turn this into a pvp type game. As it is now it seems like a great game to binge for 3-5 days.

Awesome game!

Wish they had a deathmatch option and obviously more civs would be more fun but still a fantastic game as is!
