A Stellar Space Adventure with Room for Improvement

Rating: ★★★★☆

SpaceBourne 2 offers an enthralling space exploration experience that will captivate fans of the space genre. While the game has a few minor drawbacks, its overall strengths far outweigh them, making it a worthwhile addition to any space game enthusiast's collection.

First and foremost, the game's space combat mechanics are a shining highlight. Players will find themselves immersed in exhilarating battles among the stars, where they can engage in epic dogfights and strategic encounters. The controls are intuitive, and the satisfaction of outmaneuvering enemy ships is undeniable. SpaceBourne 2 truly excels in delivering an authentic and immersive space combat experience.

Additionally, the game's vast and beautifully rendered space environments deserve praise. From the serene beauty of distant galaxies to the minable asteroid fields, the visuals in SpaceBourne 2 are decent for what it is. Frankly, It is not about the visuals, the true shine is the game mechanics and everything you can do it in.

One aspect that may disappoint some players is the lack of voice acting. However, while the AI voice may not be as engaging as one would hope, it doesn't significantly detract from the overall experience. The absence of voice acting is a minor quibble compared to the vast amount of content and exploration opportunities the game provides.

It's worth noting that the ground combat in SpaceBourne 2 could benefit from further refinement. While not the game's strongest suit, it still offers enjoyable moments and serves as a welcome change of pace from the space battles. With some improvements, it has the potential to become more engaging and seamlessly integrated into the overall experience.

The AI characters and their capabilities could also use some fine-tuning. Specifically, larger ships and their automatic turrets could benefit from improved aiming mechanics. However, these issues should not discourage players from diving into the game's vast universe. SpaceBourne 2 still offers plenty of challenges and excitement, and the occasional flaws in AI behavior do not diminish the overall enjoyment.

In conclusion, SpaceBourne 2 is an outstanding space game that will transport players to a captivating universe brimming with adventure. Despite a few areas for improvement, the game's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. With its exhilarating space combat, breathtaking visuals, and a vast array of exploration opportunities, SpaceBourne 2 is a must-have for space game enthusiasts. Don't let the minor shortcomings deter you from embarking on an unforgettable journey through the cosmos.

Lastly, this is for those talking about other games such as Star Citizen (the game everyone loves to pick on with explanation except $$) and Elite Dangerous. Frankly, I think you are missing the concept of all the space games that we currently have and to come. You can compare what they are doing in the sense of "space game", but not every game is going to be created for everyone. We could already start picking on Starfield and saying how this game is doing more than that game and frankly that is sad coming from a triple A studio who has taken 8 years to make; not to mention coming from one of the great RPG making studios. So, yeah...I think you should be looking at what each game is trying to pull off and will clearly see they all have their perks. Frankly, the more space games, the better. Gives me more of the universe to enjoy and love. That is my opinion and two cents.

So, I was given a copy of this game to test out and give feedback (back in 2015) and I was absolutely in love with what it was trying to do. It was my in between game for my love of battlefield (the old stuff) and Freelancer/Star Citizen/Elite Dangerous (or any space combat game).

It really had so much potential and it still does. I still recommend the game IF you can get a group of friends together to make it worth wild but maybe for $5. They have come a long way though and if you read about the devs...the team is VERY small. Secondly, it has been overshadowed by so many other games. I used to stream this live on twitch and it gained some traction but it just was not enough. At that time, I remember 5 other space games had come out from Hellion (which that game ran with the money and did shady stuff) to Pulsar. It was also a time period as I mentioned with ED and SC. So, it was hard to compete.

For those saying it is a scam, sadly you know nothing about game development and too focused on using a word you do not even understand the meaning of. Just look at the updates they have provided from when it was first in early access to now. You would see the progression they have made with the money and time they had. So, ease up on dev teams that are actually trying and keeping people informed verse actual companies that hide.

With all that out of the way, let me actually talk about the game. So, what makes me love this game and why it has the potential still is that this is (pardon me comparing games but it just helps) similar to PlanetSide and old school Battlefront put together. I love the fact that you are fighting this big battles in space but also trying to get a transport ship into the enemy base to blow it up and then to escape out. The rush of charging into the war is fantastic. I cannot get enough of the coordination that is required from the captain of the capital ships to all the fighters that come out of it. They have tons of unique ships and weapons and the UI back then was very painful but the recent updates are very nice. Hopefully when it is closer to a release we will see a surge in players but only time will tell as so many other games are coming out and big scale battles seem to be dying for quick fixes.

Side note: I am not defending or attacking any side, just I have been in their shoes before with game development and the amount of crap people in the industry receive from gamers, well it is just pathetic and sad...it really does not make a team want to finish or continue. They are humans just like you and I, maybe have some consideration and treat them with some respect.
