Synopsis

This game is a great way to pass some time and have some great fun. The mere concept of going onto the deep web and trying to find a hidden red room is enough to get a lot of people intrigued. It makes the deep web very authentic, with the weird jumbled up URLs, to the sites that are up at certain times of night and down at other times, to the fact that your IP can be exposed and you can become vulnerable to hacking.

Brief Guide

Ultimately your goal is to find 8 keys that are hidden on 8 different deep web sites across 3 deep Wiki pages. The keys have a digit showing what order they appear in on the URL, followed by a dash and 4 random characters. They look something like this:

1 - b7a3

So lets say I found 3 keys and needed to put them in order. We'll use these 3 keys as an example:
  • 1 - b7a3
  • 2 - a7e5
  • 3 - 67f9

We would put the keys in order based on what the order number is, so with those 3 keys your URL would look like this:

b7a3a7e567f9

The Villains

The extra horror element in this game is the presence of two villains; the Kidnapper and the Breather. These two guys, especially the Kidnapper, add this unique element of real world horror. The Kidnapper can track down your IP and bust in through your window, and the Breather can track you down and attempt to bust in through your front door.

Summary
  • Many sites to look around for keys. Some are a bit comedic while others are direct copies of actual twisted deep web pages (The Dollmaker) and others are just interpreted from real sites and are made to be similar (Family Drug Shop).

  • VERY scary if you get attacked by any of the villains. Usually unexpected and surprising even after a long time of being through them.

  • Hacking can get tedious as you progress. Sometimes hacks happen so frequently you can't even spend a few seconds without it happening. Luckily when version 2.0 came out it added the ability to reset your modem, which takes about 10 seconds of being completely vulnerable and not being able to do anything, but if successful, it can take the burden of hacking off your shoulders for a little while.

  • Overall just a really fun experience. I'm amazed that Adam the developer was able to make this game so quickly. It can provide you with hours upon hours of suspenseful, heart-throbbing fun and intrigue, especially if you try and get the two secret endings.

  • I'd most certainly recommend it to anyone. It's scary, it's a load of fun, it's realistic, and most of all, it's extremely cheap. The original price was only $1.99! Now it's been bumped up to $4.99 to help Adam raise more money to develop his big project called "Rides with Strangers." Don't worry about the price increase. The game is still very much worth it.

Extra

If you're interested in supporting Rides with Strangers, please go check out the Kickstarter page here and maybe even consider contributing a bit to it. It's shaping up to be a really exciting game, so hopefully it can be completed before too long.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

FNaF World is a mixed bag. How one feels about it is entirely based on their general interests. You might love it more than everything in the world, you might hate it to the core, or you might just feel that it's got a decent mix of pros and cons. That is how I feel about this game. I've played a few hours and I've made some great progress; and I can safely say that I've got my opinion of this game.

(I will not be mentioning any story in this review, so don't worry, this review is 100% spoiler-free!)

Pros
  • Well programmed. The game's functions run very smoothly and I have yet to spot any glitches.
  • Variety of environments. When entering a new area, the background tune changes, creating tone that matches perfectly with the scenery.
  • Stays true to the RPG style of game. In addition to the roaming and battles, there are also shops to visit that can help you stock up on some very useful goodies!
  • Modeling is stellar. In addition to the shiny and cute characters available to have in your party, there are also many enemy models that look comical, hilarious, and overall just fit in perfectly to the genre of game!
  • The original sound track (OST) is phenomenal! It brings back some sort of feeling of nostalgia as it just fills you with the memory of playing old kid-friendly games with catchy music tracks! Scott Cawthon has worked with Leon Riskin to compose the sound track, and boy did it pay off! Since Scott picked the right guy, he definitely wasn't, 'Riskin' too much! XD
  • Dialogue is comedic. Many corny yet still entertaining jokes are put into this game's dialogue boxes. Every time the game loads, a screen with a random character will appear with a line of text beneath them. Here, I'll give one away! If the Marionette is on the loading screen, the text will read, "think outside the box!"

Cons
  • The overworld is 8-bit; not 3D. I personally do not mind this as I think the open world is still very beautiful, but many others may be disappointed by this fact. The original trailer briefly depicted a 3 dimensional overworld, however, this idea was sadly scrapped. Don't worry, the 8-bit overworld is still detailed and fully functional!

  • There are no attack menus or any places to find out what exactly your attacks do. A brief attack synopsis menu would have been nice.

  • Speaking of attacks, each character only has 3 and there are no ways to replace attacks or gain additional ones; however, your attacks do still gain power as you level up.

  • Battling is pretty fast paced. This game is meant to be played by both all FNaF fans as well as a generally younger audience. This concept is amazing, but the result is a bit mixed. I'm not sure how a young child could figure out how to properly battle. I was thinking the battle system would be like the Pokemon games, where you and the enemy exchange turns. This was not the case however. The game's battles are constantly flowing; they never stop. If you haven't decided your next move, you'd better do it quick because the enemy will continue attacking regardless. This system is already pretty tricky for me; could you imagine how overwhelming this would be for a young child?

  • One last con concerns the overworld. The shops you can purchase from in the first area alone already have some really expensive items. Once again I will make a comparison to the Pokemon games. In the Pokemon games, the area in which the game begins will usually have shops with some very low prices so you can earn a little money and spend it to get some decent stuff; and as you progress further into other areas the shops will have better items but at a higher price. I just personally feel that it's weird to have expensive power-ups and bytes in the game's beginning area. This might just be me, though. Am I alone here?

In Conclusion
Overall, FNaF World is a masterpiece. A true work of art. Scott Cawthon, you have outdone yourself! What a great, fitting conclusion to a great series!

Rating
I would normally go off my own personal experience and opinions and give this game a 10/10. However, since this is meant to be a legitimate review, I will let the criticisms affect the rating. This brings me to a concluding judgment of 9.5/10.

This game is phenomenally well done! I got over-excited when I saw the trailer and even more excited when I found out that in this game we can finally move around and that we play as a child! I almost died of pure happiness yesterday when I saw that the game had been released! I literally almost had a heart attack...several times! The jumpscares in this game are friggin' INTENSE! i always thought that big, sharp-toothed monsters were a dumb cliche, but boy was I wrong! the gameplay kept me on edge forever! Normally I like it when there's a particular strategy to follow, but this game is so good because it's so unpredictable that there is no time for strategy! Sound is what will save you in this game. In fact, this is the first FNaF game where headphones are basically a requirement! I guess I shouldn't spoil the story for those who do not know it yet, but it was cool to find out who caused the Bite of '87. I wonder who it was......*cough *cough fredbear
